Breaking News Ben Goodliffe Signs On Loan.

Was also difficult for the other two whilst he was on the pitch too!

Gubbins was worse that Crowther for Yorks 3rd. Golding had a shocker for the two Barnet corners. Bonne did well at the back post on Saturday.

Defending the back post is an art in itself. In the days Brown and Coughlan, PB would coach the front post defending and GC would do the back post for corners. Those on here claiming we don't need another CB can't have been watching v York or Barnet....Or several other defeats this season.

Been a very solid presence and good goal threat, I totally agree!
Even yesterday, he had the best shot of the match!

That back 3 is looking so solid. Wealdstone had a striker on 16 goals and Gateshead had scored over 70 odd goals this season. Neither of which looked like scoring. That's seriously impressive from our backline. Also, for wingbacks who can't apparently defend, both Gus and Bridge held their shape brilliantly yesterday too.

Totally agree Dan. You make some excellent observations in your posts at times, this being one of them. You could see first half how they played the ball into the space that Bridge or Gus left, this had to be covered, not an easy task when their passing was so good. It was, frankly, heroic defending and made viewers think it was a boring game. Beautiful football for every Shrimper counting down 90mins !

Ben couldn't get a game for us, whether we ask him back for next season will depend on who we keep or sign in the Summer, he seemed to love playing for us but couldn't get back into the side after his injury. I think Ben and Tom are just the players you will need for the playoffs, they both give the opposition a tough time leaving others to do the fancy stuff!
Is it true that Robbie is on the verge of selling the club to Americans?

When he first started playing for us he was a bit slow, and looked unfit. I, like many others, thought, no thanks. But, to his credit, the more games he played, the better and fitter he got. He's now a threat at corners and free kicks, he actually looks the most likely to score on those if anyone. I also like his will to win attitude. He's a leader on the pitch. I would now love him to stay.

In fairness you did say he needed a run of games, so that’s proved. He’s definitely one to get involved, instruct others and interact with fans. Pretty much everything you’ve said has proved to be (though you didn’t mention his penchant for bicycle kicks and long range piledrivers I don’t think). Now, can we have him?

Yes I was surprised we let him go but Danny knew he needed game time, he was very good in pre season and at Wimbledon for us until he got that nasty injury.

Yup I knew there was a very decent player there, he will never be quick but makes up for it in so many other ways, he will prove to be a fans favourite if he stays as he was at Sutton. As for bicycle kicks and long range shots, he used to be a midfielder before he switched to defence and the lad loves a goal!

almost exactly what I posted on the Wealdstone post-match thread - started off a bit of a donkey but has vastly improved over the last few games.
