Battrick Match 8 - The run-in begins

SZCC - luckiest team of the past 2 weeks? ;)

Watch that one bite me on the **** on Sunday :hilarious:

I'm 150-2 after 31 overs. We need another 85. Got to keep these two in until the 40 over mark.

Just as I said how this pair needed to stay there, this typically happens:

31.4 W Paul to Hudson
Hudson hammers that one, but Baker foils him and takes a great catch deep on the boundary.

Puts things back in their favour now.

Goosen, a bowler who was only playing to get form ahead of his sale next week hits the winning runs afte a heroic innings from Evanson who will also be sold. Not to mention club legend Cold Rod Curtis who was not out from No. 5 yet again to take his season average to 145. I always knew he was a winner, even when I was constantly slagging him off I knew!

And that's the end of the match. ShrimperZone CC won by 4 wickets.
Zippys Headcases 105-10
ShrimperZone CC 108-6

32.2 4 Noble to Goosen
Thwack! Short and Goosen murders it past square leg. A ferocious pull shot.
32.1 1 Noble to Curtis
Solid stroke to mid off.

So a 3 run win and a 4 wicket win in two weeks, we're making hard work of winning this division! 2nd place is 154-7 chasing 240 so we could be 8 points clear come close of play.

Looks like Nick is going to lose his first game of the season:

End of Over 33: 183-0, runrate=5.55, reqrunrate=6.12 (286-10)
Jameson 7-0-43-0
Greening* 67 (90 balls)
Staveley 104 (109 balls)

Going to be a fair old finish for Muse!

YB's game looks a close(ish) one as well

Inter Yerma v Geoff_Boycotts_Grandmother XI

Geoff_Boycotts_Grandmother XI won the toss and elected to field.
Pitch: Cracked

End of Over 38: 158-3, runrate=4.16, reqrunrate=5.50 (223-10)
Holder 6-1-34-0
Thomas* 51 (48 balls)
Griffith 5 (10 balls)

Last Wicket: Keigher c. Okeeffe b. Mcgregor 69 (FOW: 144/3)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mrs BB won by 9 wickets chasing 205

At last, took our time getting there

And that's the end of the match. Southend United won by 117 runs.
Southend United 265-4
JWCC 148-10

Now to watch Muse's game

And that's the end of the match. Napster's XI won by 115 runs.
Napster's XI 309-3
The grandmasters 194-10

End of Over 40: 194-10, runrate=4.85
Whittingham 9-0-55-1
Street* 115 (104 balls)

My game's over now, no close finish here. Typically my best 3 batsmen got out before the 40 over mark, so it's no use. Into the bowlers now.

Ugh I hate this game sometimes, my team always flop after 30-35 overs. Interestingly the team I thrashed last week is winning this week against 6th place, so there will be 3 of us on 8 points. At least that means I just need to beat them 2 to stay up though, although I'm happy to go down so long I can achieve top 2 in my IV league.

Unlucky Muse, always tough to protect the final 6 wickets in the last 10 though.

Nick's taken a couple but looks doomed, think he'll still be top though:

End of Over 44: 258-2, runrate=5.86, reqrunrate=4.83 (286-10)
Dyke 7-0-38-1
Noon* 2 (2 balls)
Cash 5 (2 balls)

Last Wicket: Greening c. Peters b. Dyke 108 (FOW: 252/2)

It says 99 people are viewing this forum :hilarious: Who's been messing around with that?!

197-8, I hope we bat until the end and get 210.

I guess that will put him below the play-off line though ?

Bad luck Muse, hope you can do enough to finish 6th and give yourself a chance of staying up.

As it stands yes, though he's not bothered about going up anyway. Happy to sit in his division beating teams.

Cheers BB :) I'm a bit disappointed that I'm one player short of having a team good enough for this league, as I've lost so many games by a few runs. I should be able to cope next time up in III though, going down may be best anyway as next season will be a similar struggle.

Well done to all winners today. Mr B will be ok in this league if he gets another very good batsman (or even without one!) - I expect him to stay up next season.

Each to their own I suppose, but I wouldn't find that much fun.

To be honest he's probably wise to do it, his team is not as good as his results suggest. Outside Anderson he only has two quality players. He would probably struggle in III but the season after he'll have his behemoth WK Ehiogu ready to play and will be a different prospect.

7. Billy Clark - 24 yo, BT Rating=13,971
LH Batsman, LF Bowler, superb batting form, strong bowling form, changeable
An attacking player with feeble leadership skills and woeful experience.
Stamina: mediocre Wicket Keeping: worthless
Batting: feeble Concentration: mediocre
Bowling: respectable Consistency: strong
Fielding: woeful

What should I list him at? I've had enough of him after today, and if I can replace him with someone with strong/respectable at least then we'd maybe save 10-15 runs a match.

Also, could I get an early bid on him once I list him? As long as there's no risk in whoever doing me the favour of them getting him.

Might sell this guy, too, and play Rennie all season as his fitness is invigorated by match day.

Thoughts, everyone? Maybe I should wait until the season ends, but I'm not sure. I have £1.7million in the bank already by the way.

As I said yesterday, I reckon you'll get 1-1.2 for Clark. As for a listing price, I'd put him up for about 700k to try and get some interest.

Street should go for about 1m as well I would guess, although he's a bit trickier to gauge. Might be an idea to list him for about 300k, and let a load of Level V's and VI's fight it out amongst themselves.

Prices should calm down a bit as we get towards the end of the season, but that does also mean there might be a bit less about. Say you get a total of 2.2m for the 2, that gives you 4m to play with. Could get you something like Superb / Strong with Comp Stamina I would imagine.

If you need a bid on either, let me know. I'm up to about 2m after my sell-out today !
