Battrick Match 8 - The run-in begins

BILLERICAY BLUE

Rose Tinted Brigade Member⭐⭐🦐
1st week of the reverse fixtures, I bowled my oppo out for 181 to scrape a 13 run victory on the 1st day of the season.

I was GFI that day, as I wanted to give myself the best possible chance of a winning start, but today I'm PAN. I've set the track to Dusty, as he only plays one, not particularly good, spinner (cue 6fer for him), so I'm unchanged from last week.

Lost heavily to this side first time out, even though they're not much better than me. They've lost 3 on the spin, so I'm hoping morale plays a part. If I win the toss we will field, trying to bowl them out for 150 and chasing it down.

They lost to one of my rivals last week, who incidentally both play each other today. A win against these today means I'm level on points with them too, which brings them into the dogfight.

A big match day for those in III.3, as the top 4 play each other and the bottom 4 do too.

Got the league leaders who amazingly lost last week for the first time this season but i dont expect too much from today's game. Will try and bowl first and restrict them to 250 and hope Titter's gets half the runs needed!

:D

To be fair he's not exactly the only guilty party :D

Playing last season's 4th. Shouldn't pose too many problems. Another green top so won't be a long game.

All that now awaits is Napster's constant spamming and by 4.30pm, this thread will be about 7 pages long!
Yes, but that's far better than reading another pointless "Freddy thread" :p

BATTY SHRIMPERS v Wootton

We can tell you that BATTY SHRIMPERS won the toss and elected to field. The pitch is looking a bit on the dry side. A fair bit of help for the spinners I think on this partially cloudy and humid day.

Excellent, help for both O'connor and Middleton

The Raple Guard v DIBS DIPPERS

We can tell you that DIBS DIPPERS won the toss and elected to field. The pitch is looking a cracker! Hard and fast - should be a run-fest out there on this partially cloudy and humid day.

Good stuff, now I want their numbers 2 and 3 batsmen out before they get 70.

Got 1 early doors, but could do with these 2 winkling out another 2 in the next 5 overs.

BATTY SHRIMPERS v Wootton

BATTY SHRIMPERS won the toss and elected to field.
Pitch: Dusty

End of Over 5: 28-1, runrate=5.60
Oconnor 3-0-16-0
Barat* 8 (5 balls)
Grabben 14 (19 balls)

Last Wicket: Lebohang c. Chirwa b. Middleton 6 (FOW: 10/1)

The Raple Guard v DIBS DIPPERS

DIBS DIPPERS won the toss and elected to field.
Pitch: Hard and Fast

End of Over 5: 12-1, runrate=2.40
Mohammed 3-1-6-0
Reid* 5 (18 balls)
Hurdle 5 (8 balls)

Last Wicket: Crowther c. Mohammed b. Bradley 2 (FOW: 4/1)

Hmm, Sugden's gone, looking a little but dodgy here

End of Over 7: 40-2, runrate=5.71
Boardman 4-0-21-2
Drury* 1 (1 balls)
Bartlett 19 (19 balls)

Last Wicket: Sugden lbw b. Boardman 11 (FOW: 39/2)

6.6 1 Boardman to Drury
Just a single, story of my life.
6.5 W Boardman to Sugden
It was missing leg and off and hitting middle. Plumb LBW.

May struggle to match this run rate:

End of Over 7: 6-2, runrate=0.86
Horrigan 4-2-5-0
Darby* 6 (19 balls)
Leadbeater 0 (9 balls)

Last Wicket: Morton c. Botham b. Sutherland 0 (FOW: 3/2)

End of Over 8: 44-0, runrate=5.50
Clark 4-0-30-0
Young* 13 (23 balls)
Holroyd 31 (25 balls)

Not a good start at all. 250+ beckons.

Sutheres is enjoying his new sensational skills:

End of Over 10: 15-4, runrate=1.50
Sutherland 5-2-7-4
Darby* 11 (29 balls)
Chipo 0 (1 balls)

Last Wicket: Gayle c. Goosen b. Sutherland 0 (FOW: 15/4)

9.1 W Clark to Holroyd
Oh dear. Holroyd only half commits to that delivery and a feeble piece of strokeplay gives the keeper an easy edge. A bread and butter catch for Thay that one.

End of Over 9: 56-0, runrate=6.22
Lever 5-0-26-0
Holroyd* 42 (29 balls)
Young 14 (25 balls)

Needed Holroyd out, he was smashing us to all parts! Now Conrad comes to the crease - their best batsman.

Has anybody else found, that Dusty pitches also seem to give a great deal of help to medium pacers? Admittedly it's Humid, but Middleton has totally out-bowled O'connor.

Bradley 5-0-19-1
Hurdle* 21 (23 balls)
Ball 1 (6 balls)

Last Wicket: Reid b. Mohammed 8 (FOW: 29/2)

I'll tell you soon once my medium pacer, Resha, bowls. Recently on our dusty pitches he's been very economical, but doesn't take a great deal of wickets. Even so, I definitely think they do well on dusty wickets.

Well it's a good job it does help medium pacers as well, as my spinners have bowled 8 overs for 52 between them...
