Battrick - Match 1

YYYYYYEEEEESSSS!!!!!

And that's the end of the match. BATTY SHRIMPERS won by 13 runs.
BATTY SHRIMPERS 194-10
Wootton 181-10

End of Over 48: 181-10, runrate=3.77
Prasad 8-0-27-2
Mawer* 73 (74 balls)

47.3 W Prasad to Miller
Great delivery! Outside off stump, swinging away and the batsman helps it into the hands of Schoeman at first slip!

Definitely a good decision to GFI !

Old Chelmsfordians v Will

Old Chelmsfordians won the toss and elected to bat.
Pitch: Dusty
And that's the end of the match. Will won by 8 wickets.
Old Chelmsfordians 283-3
Will 284-2

If anyone gets a chance can they post Kev + Toddy's results? I can convey them when I reach Amsterdam. Disappointed to find that City Airport has no cider!

Safe win in the end for me. Mushie cleared the tail. Big game next week against last seasons second placed team.

Bossanove v General Stars

We can tell you that General Stars won the toss and elected to field. The pitch is looking a cracker! Hard and fast - should be a run-fest out there on this overcast and cold day.

End of Over 49: 247-9, runrate=5.04, reqrunrate=43.00 (289-5)
Rowe 10-0-57-4
Akram* 1 (1 balls)
Stanton 46 (33 balls)

Last Wicket: Jackman b. Rowe 0 (FOW: 242/9)

49.1 W Barnard to Akram
Yorked him! Aimed right at his toes and middle stump lies flat as Akram starts the long walk back.

JWCC v Southend United

We can tell you that Southend United won the toss and elected to bat. The pitch is looking a bit on the dry side. A fair bit of help for the spinners I think on this overcast and cold day.

End of Over 49: 334-3, runrate=6.82, reqrunrate=14.00 (347-5)
Neill 10-0-83-1
Convey* 104 (85 balls)
Francis 25 (13 balls)

Last Wicket: Downing b. Neill 142 (FOW: 286/3)

49.1 1 Mapes to Convey
Pitched outside off stump and nipping back, Convey does well to play to the on side, single taken.
49.2 1 Mapes to Francis
Nudged towards extra cover. Single taken.
49.3 4 Mapes to Convey
Edged and through the slips for four. Mapes seems to be losing his cool here. He could do with some comforting words from his teammates to calm him down.
49.4 1 Mapes to Convey
Gently flicked around to the on side, mid wicket fielding.
49.5 1 Mapes to Francis
Gamage runs round the boundary and a quick pick up and throw prevents the second run. The spectators behind him clap him after that bit of fielding.
49.6 1 Mapes to Convey
On the front foot, stroked to the off, good running.

Good win for Toddy, bad luck Kev

Jesus, for some insane reason my attacking and destructive respectively openers decided to score so slowly at 4 an over for the first 40 overs. Then, the magical BT collapse occured and we ended up being bowled out for 219.

Hudson 107 off 147
Granville 71 off 109

Pile of crap. Lost by 8 wickets and sit 2nd bottom already. This against one of the less able sides in the division. Relegation beckons I fear :(

We had a crap start last year too. Cant explain it to be honest.

He made 312-6, before bowling out the opposition for 290.

Fellow players, give me advice for next week. My opponents have these ratings today:

Red N Blue Army CCC
Top Order: wonderful
Middle Order: competent
Lower Order: abysmal
Seam Bowling: strong
Spin Bowling: strong
Fielding: woeful

I'll struggle to dislodge that top order, but am considering bowling my best seamers straight through on very attacking, and bowling first (if conditions are good). Obviously, after today, it seems my lot can't score welll against a strong seam attack, so will need to get them cheaply. On paper I should get thrashed, but badly need to win this and will GFI too.

2 early wickets and could easily win - should I go for broke? If I lose I can't see my lot staying up.
