Battle of the Sitcoms - Round One (Heat 9)

Which Sitcom ?

  • Total voters
    76
  • Poll closed .
Alan Partridge is funny, but Open All Hours is just brilliant. A much gentler sort of humour, without being as dull as last of the summer wine.

Steve Coogan's very good at what he does, but is he quite up to the standard of Ronnie Barker? I don't think so, and with a supporting actor like David jason you know you're on to a winner (worked in Porridge too)

Both superb programmes ,Ronnie Barker was pure genius and probably the greatest gag writer that i can recall, but Alan Partridge just has more memorable moments that stick in my mind , so i'm opting for ' access to Dixon's '

But when BBC cutbacks and poor ratings took their toll in the early 90’s, this monumental programme was there to document Alan fighting for a new series, before eventually having a nervous breakdown and driving to Dublin bare-footed in his Lexus after a Toblerone binge-eating session.

Dundee*

;)

Both good shows these .. but Ronnie Barker has his Porridge so i'm pleased Partridge has snuck through without the need for me reviewing the evidence presented and casting the deciding vote

The remaining 12 shows will be aired between Monday and Wednesday folks
