Why? The cup format is tried and tested with the Totty Cup and Battle Of The Bands and whoever emerges triumphant will be a worthy winner.

I am slightly biased (as this was my original idea) but I think the Battle Of The Beers has been a resounding success. Many thanks to those who have taken the time to organise it.

I understand that .. i was just making a point after moridin said he couldn't believe the final line up, i thought it would be interesting to see who would've won if it had been a straight poll from the outset* ... i know for a fact there would be loads of people saying stuff like "i cant believe such and such has won, or only got a few votes" and the like

* taking nothing from the cup format which works perfectly IMO

Think the only fair way (and very long winded) is to put all the beers into a league format with each one playing each other once with 5 days of voting given to determine the winner. 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw, none for a loss. Then the points difference used as like a goal difference. Winner is of coruse the one that finishs with the most points.

However this is very long process but cant cut corners can ya. Just an idea.

But saying that think the battle of the beers has been great too!! Well done to everyone.

You may be right, but as you pointed out other very decent ales like Landlord & Deuchars fell by the way side.

However I have held off voting until now and I've just seen Pride take a 2 point lead about 20 minutes before the poll should close which should hopefully see an ale win the contest.

A good result for an ale of lager, and it looked like my delayed tactical vote worked. When I voted it was 45-43 and someone made it 44, which may have tied the final and taken it to penalties.

Its the luck of the draw. I've just had an evening on the Newky Brown, which my sh!t beat by one vote! A few of my mates voted for me & not the sh!t I was promoting!!
