Well after nearly a Month of voting we are down to the Final Two. It has been a great contest with some very close Battles but now the day of reckoning has finally arrived. From 32 Beers/Lagers we have but Two left.....cast your votes one more time people for this The Zone Beer Final between...

..............LONDON PRIDE (HUTTON) V KRONENBOURG (THE BIG SHRIMP)........

Who would have thought with all the quality ales in this competition, probably the blandest & worst ale would get to the final! The luck of the draw I suppose!!

They are up against the probably the best lager. No contest! Vote for Krone!

:whistling:

Lager all day long for me !!!!

well obviously not all day, cos i'm a lightweight and would soon be :puke .. but you know what i mean

I was very disappointed to see these two in the final. Staropramen, at least, should have beaten Kronenbourg in the lager stakes while plenty should have been ahead of Pride.

Bearing in mind I think I've only voted in one of these, who knocked out Guinness?

I have missed most of these, did Grolsch get involved - if so surely by far the best lager, if not - why not?

I think Corona did. :O

But by the nature of the contest, you are likely to end up with compromise candidates rather than actually the best in any category. Especially as lager drinkers will find most bitters too challenging and choose the blandest to vote for...

agreed... this is a terrible final

I think the problem is the reasons people are voting.

If people have tried both beers, and prefer one, then we'll get the "best beer" However, if people are voting for beer x, because they've never tried beer y, then we'll see the more common beers win.

So, people, before you vote, go out and try a pint of Kronenbourg, and a pint of London Pride, and then vote. You know it makes sense ;)

Me? tried both, and voted for London Pride.

Decision by committee. Always inevitable alas. The really good or nice things get knocked out along the way due to being more selectively enjoyed, and you end up with the common denominators battling it out for mediocrity.

Still, Pride is miles off a bad pint and so gets my vote every day of the week.

Exactly how can you vote on something if you have never tried both?

I have enjoyed this contest as each day I get to sample two beers before voting. :)

Oh yes, oh yes. Still can't believe that Landlord and Deuchars fell before Pride, but there you go...

Since I am a card-totin' member of CAMRA, it has to be Pride all the way for me...

:)
