Coach
Judging by the last two games, there looks to be legs left in the old boy. Two fantastic performances in 4 days.. Maybe we should persuade him to stay and have ONE last season with his home town team? What do you think?

Brown wouldn't like that

Also, as I see it if we get promoted then Brown would stay so where would Barrett fit into Brown's league one plans if he struggled to fit in his league two plans. If we don't go up then Brown has to go and I expect AB to be in with a shout of the gaffers job.

Away from all the politics and I think he has proving in these past two games and his time at AFC Wimbledon that he is still a decent and experienced leader at this level.

How do you work that out?

I cant see Barrett doing another season but it would be good to keep him on as a coach for the defenders .Or keep signed up to be used as needed when injurys leave us short .

I think AB has been superb the last couple of games, however as have other people. Shouts for him being in for a shout as Gaffer are a tad exciteable arent they if PB goes (ie if we dont go up). Also, the shout as a defensive coach, again why ? Our defensive record under Brown has been superb and maybe Coughlan deserves some massive credit for that, so surely he should be way ahead of AB as a option as a successor as gaffer "IF" Brown goes .. ?

If we get promoted then Brown will go to a bigger and better job. So if as you say he has to go if we don't..... Then either way he will be gone.

Better to retire on a high than a low, and where and when better than helping your home town club which you have served well over many years AND which you support, to win promotion?

I think keeping Barrett for one more season might depend on which division we are in. For me if we are still in league two yes.

If we are promoted then no.

I think we should try to keep Barrett for another season whatever division we are in next season. He adds great experience to our fairly inexperienced defence.

Don't agree at all. It wasn't long ago Corr was out of the side when Pigott & Cassidy arrived on loan but he is now back firmly in. Atkinson looked like he would never break back in the side a few weeks ago. I think its one of Browns plus points that he rewards players who have taken their chance with keeping them in the team.

I would have loved him to stay one more year and believe he could cut it again in League 1 and at a minimum be an excellent squad player at this level. However he has publicly made it absolutely clear he is retiring, so no chance. His current brilliant effort is about leaving on a high as commented upon and emphasized by OBL

I don't know where this Brown doesn't like Barrett nonsense has come from, we had a solid defensive partnership in Thompson and Prosser that was keeping clean sheets, why would Brown change that? If Brown really didn't want Barrett he would have started JBW or Bolger on Friday.

He is West Ham fan though!

Anyway aside from that he has proved he is still class I had my doubts about whether he still has it and he has

I'm sure AB has his own plans for retirement well mapped out and two good performances will not sway him either way.

Old football saying "your a long time retired"

If his legs are still able then why not carry on next season assuming he is offered any playing deal here or elsewhere.
