Worth remembering that they played, and won, last night against Bradford in the JPT, so may be a couple of players with tired legs by the end.

I think Brown will replace Deegan with Atkinson, and if Timlin's out then possibly Worrall.

Wouldn't surprise me, but, I really hope not. Don't think Atkinson offers much other than workrate. Jack of all trades, master of none. Never known a player to be so shot shy. I'd put Wordsworth in personally if we're sticking with 4-3-3, Timlin holding and Leonard and Wordsworth the more advanced of the CMs. Would personally have Worrall in over Mooney as well just to add more natural width, but, don't think Mooney has done anything to warrant being dropped and after last Saturday's good performance, other than forced changes I think we should stay unchanged.

---------------Bentley---------------
--White--Bolger--Prosser--Coker--
----------------Timlin----------------
----------Leonard--Wordsworth------
------Mooney--Pigott--Weston------

Agree with everything you say. I'd go for that line up as well, but can't see Brown going so offensive, particularly against Barnsley. Atkinson would offer him a bit more security than Wordsworth and I suppose more versatility to change the system, but personally I'd still go for Wordsworth.

Missed the port vale game last Saturday, first of the season at home for me, can't wait for the Barnsley game and I do hope the crowds keep improving, I'm going for a 2-1 win for us in front of 6,136 with 498 from barnsley.

I don't mind Wordsworth in for Deegan , but would be disappointed if Mooney were dropped.
Thought he played well and linked play between midfield and the front two.

Any news on Hunt ?

At least two weeks away.

And no Mooney wont be dropped, we seem to be playing with 2 strikers with him in the deep position which suits his strengths, cant see Worrall in that system. Dont like the lack of width personally but its doing the job.

Don't think there's been any news on Barrett recently but i'd imagine we'd have to wait at least another month before thinking about him making the bench.

Met him last Friday as my son was playing for Sufc u12 vs Barrett's academy u12s. He said he is in the gym everyday but not yet allowed on grass to train. Said it would be around 3 weeks but was feeling good, so expect him to be in contention within a fortnight.

a lot depends on whether Timlin is fit. If not then I'd guess Atkinson and Wordsworth will come in for Deegan and Timlin.

i doubt he'd change the shape but he might if he thinks Barnsley will suss it out but then Atkinson and Weston could go wide of Leonard and Wordsworth. Mooney could play off Pig or up with him.

wow, don't we sound fancy these days?

Online home ticket sales look pretty good at the moment. So if they bring 500 then we could be looking at another 6,500+ crowd.
Only Swindon have brought more than 500 in the League so far this season and I would imagine the average way support at Roots Hall this season is only about 350, which is not much better than League 2.

Further to earlier comments, it seems that they have no current major injury worries ahead of Saturday's game, research in the local media etc is that they are quite effective at set pieces (something im not altogether comfortable with us defending). They have already sold 350 tickets (& just like us.. dont entirely trust our online ticket system to deliver the tickets to home on time ) so it seems there maybe a fair few of "pay on the day" Barnsley fans.
There is talk of Barnsley bringing some where between 600 to 700+ plus. I personally dont see it myself.

But as others have said, looking at our home ticket sales so far, it looks like another good crowd of 6,500+ I wouldnt be surprised if we come close to the 7,000 mark, for the first time this season.

I felt the 4 3 3 we played last week started poorly. Looked like Vale sussed it and were doubling up on the full backs big time, with our narrow 3 in the middle chasing a bit. But we won. We were crying out for some composure and quality in the final third.....WordsWorth provided it teeing up piggy for a tap in.
Play WordsWorth I say....Barnsley are very beatable....goals will achieve this

Thursday morning, mid October and a grey sky, dark morning and now is the time to talk about " by heck key thump" northern Yorkie no nonsense Barnsley: to be followed Tuesday by away at grim East Midlands Chesterfield.
We are in the " meat" of the season, the warm up and get settled period is over and to my mind we have almost a settled team to go with.
Same again as last Saturday BUT the suspension (so delayable as last 2 cards were unnecessary) to Deegs means we need a player to start things from the back so that is WordsW and he must also remember to do the grafting.
The injured Tims ( appeared a nothing moment as did Barratt's and Hunt's) opens up thing for hard working but no threat Willo, or width from Wozza, or Kevan to put a marker down as he, Kevan, will be wanting to play Tuesday at his home town club Chesterfield.
So who will PB select for Tim's place? My guess is .............wait for it.............
REA who plays there also and has some passes and works hard.

Really ?.... I thought we looked very comfortable first half and created some really good chances.

I've been giving team selection a lot of thought, and have arrived at the opinion that I don't have a clue who we will play where apart from Bentley and the back four. I do think we will mash Barnsley up with a good performance and we are probably due a 1-0 win after hanging on for the last third of the match. Old habits etc..............

You must have still been in the bar. They nearly scored a couple in the first 15 minutes, before we got going.

very true, some last player/line stops, especially from JW.
It took us time to work out how we should go 4 3 3 BUT got better from 15-75 minutes and then back to the regular nerve jangling finale when we lose shape and all idea about attacking and getting a buffer goal.

We were impressed by the high tempo slick passing the lads offered against Vale, long may that continue, that brand of football is the only way.

Attack the oppo.

True they had chances but we have been slow starters in quite a few games at the Hall so far, whatever our formation. looking at their front two and the where they are in the table no more than I would expect them to create problems against any side.
the zone does have a tendency to demand a public enquiry if the opposition have a shot on goal or a winger goes past JW once in the first half. Overall I thought the diamond worked really well

I saw Barnsley at Oldham towards the end of last season when they were on the crest of a wave under the newly arrived Lee Johnson from Oldham. They were very impressive and won comfortably. The players who stood out were Nyatanga at CB and the clever Hourihane in midfield. Nyatanga is now joined by Alfie Mawson and I fully expect both to be a threat, and not necessarily at set pieces alone. I am expecting a very close game with one goal in it either way. This will not be easy.

All pretty even I thought, we only had 2 shots on target all game compared to their 4 , but we created as much as they did overall.
