There wasn't a lot wrong with last nights performance on any level.

I was particularly pleased to see the players fitness levels increasing - we didn't look leggy in the last 20 minutes as we have done recently. The only downside was poor marking for their goal - or should I say no marking at all.

Barnet were poor but we didn't let them play and we broke very quickly. Everyone pulled their weight tonight and I saw what Soares does give us that Hall doesn't which is good defensive cover - he also managed his first shot on target this season but I guess it was odds on he would score against his old club.

I don't even see the Mohsni thing as a downside. We didn't lose and he has to learn so it may be the turning point for him.

Ratings - 8 for everyone except Paterson 8.5, Barker 9 (MOM - awesome) and Zaaboub 6 as he hardly touched it but when he did he let the ball run out of play.

Oh and it's good to see that Sturrock now feels Paterson is part of the set up here. Good management and well done Pato for responding.

He's been lucky a couple of times so far not to get sent off this season, seems a little too keen to raise his hands to opposition, and finally paid the price....

I don't want to judge the squad on the basis of that game, because Barnet were comical. Their central midfield was completely anonymous, I think the only touch the big man up top got all night was Moshni's punch and I can't recall a single cross beating the first man... Stimpson has a job on his hands keeping that sorry shower in this league on that performance.

They did manage to get one cross to beat the first man. The winger had plenty of space and no-one closing him down and promptly put it out of the ground. What was so impressive about their inability to get a cross past the first man is that we weren't even marking that tightly. On one occasion Ricky Holmes (thank God we didn't sign him) had to actually wait for Grant to get back so he could hit it straight at him.

Otherwise I agree entirely with you. There have been a few noteworthy scorelines in the division already this season and I wouldn't be surprised if Barnet received an absolute tonking off someone. A more sympathetic ref last night and we might have been on for double figures.

Also everyone is slating Mohsni, but how about Barker? Mohsni was reacting to Barker reacting and Barker is one of our senior pros. That situation would have been totally avoided if Barker had kept his cool.

Apart for the fact that we lose him for 3 games, just as we were starting to look a bit more solid at the back.....

Interesting to not that Barnet have got Bradford at the weekend... Judging on their performances against us this season, that should prove to be pure Jogo Bonito football.

They've already had one from Crewe. 7-0 I think - and the players then donated their wages to the travelling supporters club

I I decided at the very last minute to make the small journey to Barnet and was amazed at how quick we got there considering it was right in the middle of the rush hour and we had to navigate the M25.
So glad I did though and it was good to see Harry Crawford start. Whether we were good or that Barnet were very poor remains to be an individual preference however, it was good to see some attcking football (well the 1st half anyway) The cross from Crawford leading upto the first goal was superb - although I understand it was explained over the radio that Crawford had miss hit his shot - absolute cack, it was a cross from him and NOT a shot. Perhaps the biggest downer on the night was Moshini being sent off. Now I am not sure whether it was a straight red or a second bookable offence, maybe someone could confirm. he has got to learn to control himself better as other teams will target him and this will be a recurring theme. Interesting though, that as he walked off the pitch and into the tunnel a Barnet supporter came running down the stairs and had a swing at him where he again flew his fists. As a result of this sending off Sturrock had to make changes and poor Crawford was subsituted.
Good night all in all and the win will do their confidence good. Even better I was home indoors by 10.40
Really? I was in the pub! lol

BBC Essex said Wembley final. I recall comments on here saying that wasn't correct. Did we establish the facts ?

Tottenham451 was convinced it would be played elsewhere... It's the Play-Off final that has changed venue because of the Champions League final, Independent had the PO final being played at Old Trafford in a report last week.

Yeah there was nothing anywhere to suggest that it was not at Wembley but Tottenham451 seemed to claim that he had inside knowledge.

I thought Barker DIDN'T react other than a bit of a shout and that was why Mohsni steamed in. You simply can't go rushing in with your fists raised, but if he went then their guy had to go, he started it and it should have been a both or neither sending off.

Evans - 6 - Nothing to do really, kicking was terrible.
Clohessy - 7 - Great first half, a little more quiet in the second.
Mohsni - 5 - Played well, but stupid sending off.
Barker - 8 - Very good performance
Gilbert - 5 - I don't know why, but I think he is toilet
Hall - 6.5 - Did ok, very unlucky not to score with a thunderbolt shot.
Grant - 9 - Showed his class down to 10 men with his hold up play and calming influence. Well done son.
Simpson - 7 - A good enough game in the middle.
Soares - 7.5 - Best gme for us yet, looked lively.
Paterson - 9 - Great performance, terrific finsihes. Boy scores goals.
Crawford - 8 - Terrific from Harry, his pass for the 1st goal showed great maturity.

Coughlan - 7 - Did exactly what was needed.
Jarvis - 4 - A month is too long to kep him, would rather see our OWN Spencer everytime
Zaaboub - 5 - Does nothing
