Any Budding Writers Out There?

Very good but is an apostrophe required? If after the final "s" in Shrimpers should "Net" be plural?
If Andy likes it then the choice could be his.
Personally I would go for “From the Shrimper’s Net” but can see a case for “From the Shrimpers’ Nets”.

Yep, I do really like the suggestion though will wait to see if others and I'll be running any decisions via my co-editor Fitz. Personally I like the singular option for the suggestion so getting my apostrophe ducks in a row it would be 'From the Shrimper's Net' ........... but please keep the suggestions coming and thanks to all on this so far. It is turning out to be quite a big project (spent hours sorting out the admin on it all over last two days) but I'm more convinced than ever now that it will be a very worthwhile project that loads will love

It was a pleasure yesterday afternoon before the match to spend time in the company of Dave 'Nobbler' Brabbing fine-tuning with him his story for our 'Roots & All' book which will be out in August ..... it's coming on really well, some cracking tales already in.
Dave has many top yarns from the 60's, and yesterday at the match met up with his great pal Charlie Benson with who he went to many matches back then. Some 55 years have passed but the memories remain fresh. (top pic Dave is on the left and bottom on the right)

Haven't seen Charlie for a long time, glad to see he's still about. Just a thought, I know you mentioned a lack of ladies, but I guess I might be able to. Have you thought about directly approaching Alison Moyet though? She might be interested.

Kay, be great to have you on board with this. Will email you the writers guide. Presently we are not really ticking the diversity box, though we do have a couple of younger writers which is great.
Every attempt to contact Alison over the years has met with silence, I understand that as she has made it clear that her love of supporting the blues was best when she just felt she was one of the crowd. No harm in trying again tho (she could go under the name 'Alf' to retain anonymity!), and this book thing is a bit different. I can only ask.

Dear all,

Thought you might like an update - this is proving to be a huge task but an immensely enjoyable one and more importantly one which I think every Shrimper fan who appreciates a good tale will love.

So far we have an amazing 54 writers who have pledged to write a story for the book, and all have been sent a writers guide so they all know what is needed etc

We have to date 19 stories in - the rest have until 31 May to provide theirs. ,Most of those received have completed the review process. Each has been unique, and really entertaining charting either a single event or a run-through of various highlights special to them. We have memories from the 1950's through to the current day.

Each story retains the writer's own style written independently of their co-writers - Fitz and me as editors are just reviewing for consistency, facts, grammar .... plus to check there is nothing we see that someone might take offence at (tho Ron might not like reading it)

There will be a picture montage in the middle re pics provided by the writers - got some crackers here already most of which will not have been seen before.

I also have commitments from eight former Shrimper players to each write a brief Foreword on the importance of fans - those in to date are really quite touching and you'll be proud to read what the players genuinely think of us all

Front cover design nearly sorted. Next month we will go live with pre-sale orders in return for which the buyer gets their name listed in the book.

Not yet got a sponsor to cover at least part of the publishing costs (so we can then max profits to go towards various causes), so if anyone knows who might be potentially interested please DM me

Target date for publishing remains August - just in time to ride on a new wave of optimism ahead of our return to the EFL (may need to edit that bit).

Will keep you all posted.
