HI all, getting there. The club have kindly put out an appeal on their website today and with a few responses from that already plus more on here since my last update we now have:

John Tyler
Colin Hunt
Paul Parrish
Tom Lee
@Zeuss
@Napster
@Stubb
@ColinMorrisWalksOnWater
@Hooly
Matt Bigwood
Lewis Hobday
Chris Goulborn
Andy Lewis

So, that's spot on 30 though ideally we'd like to get that up closer to 40 - hopefully I'll get a few more responses to the club website article but if there are any on here still yet to come forward who would like to then please do

Without of course knowing all the names behind the SZ tag name it does look like we have quite a male dominated writers list here. Come on SZ ladies, don't be shy! As mentioned before, to get a rough idea of the kind of thing we are looking for do look at the Tales from the Shed article by Vince Cooper that I put a link for in my original post, ie not war and peace, just a good tale or two from your own unique Shrimper-watching experiences.

With a bit more recruitment for writers still to play out and then sorting the publishing route we are maybe looking at circa four weeks before I start contacting each of the writers individually with details of the process.

Cheers, Andy

Hi all, I'm pleased to say that we've had circa 40 writers want to join in this project - top stuff.

Many of them have come from the wonderful SZ and we will be making a little donation to SZ from book profits in recognition of that. Of course, all SZ posters are full of optimism so expect a book full of joy ......

For everyone who has on SZ indicated either on this thread or by direct message said they'd like to be part of this then this eve I've sent them a direct message - if you have not received one but expected too please shout.

I'll keep all posted re the book but current intentions are to have it ready for sale during August - so riding high on a tide of hope as we start a new season

If anyone wants to join the party it's not too late, just DM me.

Cheers, Andy

Just checking.....Would an article on the great fun I had signing offensive and racist songs in the late 70's and early 80's be acceptable.

Back then the likes of Watford were fair game particularly Elton John and Luther Blissett. I believe this was major contribution in maintaining our unbeaten record v Graham Taylor.....It was really just the same as a keeper time wasting in 2025.

Thank you but request declined on basis that you can't spell 'singing' :Smile:

Would appreciate some ideas (whether you are one of our book writers or not).

Our initial intended book title, 'Shrimpers' Tales' has been used already re a book on the history of Gravesend United 1893 to 1946 - I failed to spot that one on my book shelf

So, we'd like to think of another title. The book is a collection of fan stories about watching Southend United FC so somehow it needs to convey that. I suspect 'Glory Glory' has also been used before so something else, I'm sure SZ'oners can come up with something ......
