Some people are deluded if they think shouting at a player who maybe isn't good enough but puts in the effort is going to help the team. What many don't appear to realise is that the abuse one player takes has a knock on effect and will certainly feed through to the rest of the players. Let us please use our voices to be positive, because in the words of that famous cake-making drunk Delia, we truly do need a 12th man at this current time.

I will never condemn any fan for booing a poor performance, but the personal attacks that Harrold has to endure week in week out is dispicable and only has a negative effect. At the end of the day, who picks him up front...?

Steve Tilson.. so are you suggesting we shout at tilly? Will this make him drop Harrold?

You know this is not what I am intimating...I merely think the fans should realise that Tilly will do what he wants. He and Brushy pick the team, and he lives and dies by those decisions...nothing any fan rants and raves about will make a difference, no matter how much you or anybody else may like to think otherwise.
We are in serious danger of ****ing this season away through a combination of silly defensive mistakes and an inability to finish teams off when leading. We need to re-establish Roots Hall as a fortress aswell, because our record is, in reality, very poor, given the quality of sides to visit so far. To help the side, we need to sing/scream/shout in a positive manner and create a cauldron like atmosphere, not single out players and tell them how **** they may or may not be.

But we pay the money to watch that ****e... so to be honest, we are entitle to more of an opinion than them.

Back on the Zone after an injury 6 weeks ago and i see that harmony and agreement have not replaced discord, conflict and contention...........Ow how i have missed the Zone :)

Opinion is fine, but I really don't see how you (and others as well) think it is acceptable to throw personal insults at players.

For me the issue isn't about whether we should throw around personal insults, it's whether we' as fans, should be allowed to voice our displeasure. I don't buy into any argument that ringfences a player just because he is wearing a blue shirt. Harrold is CLEARLY not good enough. In his instance, unlike Paynter, the fans gave him every chance before the insults turned personal. Had we not have had Tilly's managerial record I believe the abuse would be more directed towards him. Fans vote with their wallets and their voices. I'll stick, as always' through thick and thin but I'll retain the right to shout my opinions through a match.

they may be wrong' people may disagree with them, but they are mine.

I love it when we go away and the home crowd start getting on the backs of their players. It shows we are doing something right.

Surely opposition players pick up on the barraking of Harrold and can only encourage them. Hardly help us will it.

Right I have read some of your comments on here about Matt Harrold and your a ****ing joke. From the timing of your posts its clear you didnt go today so how do you know he played crap. He didnt play crap. The rest of the team did. Only Hunt and Harrold put any real effort in.

I went and although he didnt have the greatest of games he played ok. Stikers will be judged on goals scored and he isnt getting that many, thats because a) he is at times unlucky and b) he isnt given the chances. Today he worked hard yet again but the midfield and his strike partner were very poor. He isnt Freddy Eastwood thats going to create his own chances, he is a team player. We lacked width and we didnt once get down the wing and cross a ball in the box in the 2nd half. Also the team couldnt manage to play a decent through ball.

Harrold missed a penalty today, so what. He did what he needed to do and get it on target. Once its on target you have a 50-50 chance of the keeper going the right way, than you about a 50-50 chance of the keeper saving it. Yes he missed a penalty against Rochdale but he also scored one at Blackpool and another against Rochdale and he also scored a couple in pre -season. Players miss penalties and in recent years we have been spoilt by the amount of penalties we have scored. Some of the great penalty takers in history have missed, Alan Shearer, what a great penalty take he was but he missed now and again.

People fail to see the build up play he helps in. For instance today he ran to the ball on the left wing, with his back to goal and with a nice touch and turn sold the defender and switched the ball to the on rushing Lewis Hunt on the right wing. Also he came to the ball with his back to goal, controlled the ball on his chest and overheaded it to another Southend Player in box.

Many Southend fans at Luton today were a ****ing bunch of tossers. Every time Harrold got the ball in the 1st half they booed him. For **** sake he is a Southend player, support and encourage him. Then the in the second half when he got the ball he was sarcastically cheered.

Just image the pressure he is under every time he plays when our fans are turning against him. If this keeps happening his confidence will completely dissappear and he will be a ruined man. He doesnt deserve it. Get behind him, encourage and he will start finding the back of the net.

I went Saturday and he was woeful. I do agree with your point about not abusing the players during the game, it wont do them any good. Simple truth is though he is no way near good enough!!!

i went saturday and francis looked more dangerous in his 10 mins then harrold and hooper did in their 80 mins. and hes a defender. neither of them could hit a cow with a banjo. and as for the penalty, my gran could of hit it harder and shes 92. the keeper almost held onto it it was so weak.
All i can say is THANK F**K WE HAVE CLARKE BACK!

But I also pay my money, and I don't want to listen to people like you, hurling abuse at our own players, so who's right ???

Can someone confirm Leon Clarkes playing this saturday ??
no i dont think he can play saturday, he wernt allowed in the 1st round but if harrold or hooper cant score against oxford then........well look at all the other anti matt harrold threads.

its a bit weird as havent we already agreed to fee with Sheff Weds ??
Yes, but I don't think we have agreed trems with Leon yet, so there is still a chance he could go back to them.

No he's not playing, due to the terms of the Loan agreement. Morgan and AN other I would guess.

Morgan & Harrold then.
Not point in even hoping McD will start, it just won't happen.

Just seen the Penalty miss on YouTube, Matt just didn't seem to hit it properly..

I'd love him to turn into a 15 goal a season man, but how & when is another story.

If he can hit 2-3 in successive games it should get him fired up.
Come on Matt, prove all us doubters wrong.

So Oxford will be a massive game for the strikers to prove a lot of People wrong... I hope :-)
But even if they do have a good game (Harrold or Hooper), then people will just say they've found their level..

well probably but thats not critisism is it, its just staiting an opinion, anyway as far as I know we are playing a conference league team and not a sunday league side, so those quotes shouldnt really be coming out to play

Morgan & Harrold then.
I'd love him to turn into a 15 goal a season man, but how & when is another story.

At his current League scoring rate it will take him approximately 405 games to score 15 goals and given a reasonable fitness record, the 15th should come some time into the 2018-19 season.
