Alan McCormack

I saw McCormack in his game away at Macclesfield and he was brilliant, aggressive and brave, later I saw him fighting with Bailey away at Tranmere, and my lasting memory of him is constantly being shown yellow cards and picking up suspensions.
I may be wrong but I suspect the suspensions were his way of getting time off. He had landed himself good wages at Southend and then got above himself.
I get angry just thinking of his performance for us and was so pleased when he left.

That's a ridiculous allegation, when he was suspended or injured he was usually in the stands watching, or meeting corporate clients or supporting local initiatives....exactly the same as any others did then and do now. And his wage deal, if you remember, was the first to be signed in the year of the contract rebels, so I think all he (or his agent) did was to push for wages that were in line with others already on the books. As a result of him signing, then I think Francis followed and possibly one or two others. It's very convenient to remember things to suit a vein of feeling in a thread, but I still think people are wrong to be recalling only the bad stuff. I certainly remember the Charlton fans being quite pleased after his first few games for them, it was, as Pubey says, the Oxo Tower incident that really seems to have caused them to turn and that wouldn't have been the case if Charlton hadn't have hit such a bad run of form.

Its his own fault, as his brain was in his a**e not in his head, he would be playing in the Championship! One things I know of him at Element, a drunk **** and a lack of sensitivity to boot! its his off the pitch stuff that did it for him - he a bad PR for the club! I hope he **** up Swindon chance, so that be one team less to worry about for top 3!

McCormack is a tool. He could have gone very far but he was out on the lash too much. I remember seeing him in Mayhem dancing and acting like a mug with his mates the same day he was walking around at Gillingham with a moon boot on.

Terrible attitude and not a very nice bloke.

Although it seems Macca's career is in a downward spiral I would prefer to remember him when he was part of various successful squads under Tilly and Brush. He was a far better player then than most of the mediocre bunch we had to put up with last season.

You are right, I did'nt know he had a wife, as he making a pass at the girls in Elements! acting like he was single!

Yeah, that true, try telling that to Rio Ferdinand, R. Giggs & Ashley Cole, doing it behind their wife back - Macca was no different, its was years that Southend went down to league 2!

Of course it's different, fundamentally, because he wasn't MARRIED!!! And I'm afraid I don't understand your final comment.

Bunny Boiler alert...he is long gone but still you defend him to the hilt :whistling:

The only good thing about these 4 pages is that they've enabled me to work out who it was that Macca took up the Oxo Tower.
