Apart from the massive inconvenience and cost to all the fans who have travelled - it could be a blessing in disguise with regard to players recovering from injury and amalgamating the new lads with a few more training sessions. Got to look for SOME positive take.

Seriously so many people talk out of their backside! Train travel on the day is part of many teams approach to match day travel 'tinpot' Premier ones aswell! A lot of players would appreciate not having an overnight away and a quicker journey home, a change is as good as a rest.

A) Cheaper than the coach and hotel
B) Great for the player and performance

Got to be at least £100 pp on the train and a lot of gear to transport

Coach is say £30pp and hotel if sharing maybe £50pp

I am all for cost cutting but this is ridiculous

Agreed but have you ever managed a large group of 20-30 year olds on a trip like this? I certainly haven’t. I suspect it’s a balance and I’d as always assume that the management team after a lifetime in football have probably got a more accurate feel for it.

Imagine that 8am train gets them to the area for 10.30am. All good but you’ve got a large group literally hanging around for four and a half hours to kick off.

Early start, restless players. Recipe for disaster.

My Heart goes out to those who have spent their time and money on a wasted trip, for them it's unfortunately a disaster. For the team, It may well not be such a bad thing. Following such a turbulent week It gives more time to calm down, integrate the new boys into the squad and, why not bring a couple more in, before we head up North again?
