Seriously so many people talk out of their backside ! Train travel on the day is part of many teams approach to match day travel 'tinpot' Premier ones aswell! A lot of players would appreciate not having an overnight away and a quicker journey home, a change is as good as a rest.
Exactly, lots of videos of Everton players getting abuse at the train station recently.

I fail to believe that the team travelling by train on game day is
A) Cheaper than the coach and hotel
B) Great for the player and performance

Got to be at least £100 pp on the train and a lot of gear to transport

Coach is say £30pp and hotel if sharing maybe £50pp

I am all for cost cutting but this is ridiculous

Travelling on the day means players get to sleep in their own beds and stick to their usual routines for longer. That’s usually considered to be a positive for performance. How is sharing a hotel room with a snoring teammate good for performance?

Travelling by train will be much better for performance. It’s usually a quicker journey than by coach, you’re less likely to get travel sick, there’s more leg room and you can stretch your legs.

It’s unfortunate that on this one occasion the train broke down. That happens to coaches as well.

Group saver is 3rd off but if tickets are £130 in advance then it makes little difference.
FFS tickets in advance are not £130. But even if they were with a group saver that would likely be cheaper than overnight coach travel as you’d need to hire a coach and drivers for two days.

Should get a good group discount on the train plus maybe with C2C sponsoring there's an additional discount?

Great but the train times meant that the players would have got to Fylde at 13:50.

Still got to get from the station to the ground.

Allowing an hour leeway is poor.
