Adam done really well yesterday played 45 mins and got really stuck in the palace fans love him as well, he even got kicked in the head at one stage, one palace fan asked Adam after the match if he always clears the ball of the line like he did yesterday Adam replied mostly, bless him the palace fan then said your good in my book then.

god, they're proper bumming him!

Last minute dives and tackles are all well and good, just wait until he comes up against someone faster than a snail, or someone who'll twist and turn outside the box.

To be fair Barrett is a very capable defender, he's just gonna get slower and slower, and he'll need a big defender alongside him.

Other than someone quick, the other type of player Barrett struggles against is someone bigger than him. Unfortunately he'll find that everyone in the Championship is either quicker or bigger than him, and often both. He'll therefore end up doing a lot of desperate last ditch tackling and cuddling.

true dat....

He'll have the impetus of being freed from what must have felt like shackles here though and actually enjoying being able to concentrate on playing football without distraction, that will certainly carry him for some time.

I hope he does well there, a Palace fan I work with thinks he could well get in their starting XI after his impressive pre-season perfomances.

It shows how bad things are at Roots Hall that he wanted to leave.

I don't think the shackles were literally weighing him down and causing him to be outpaced and outjumped/outmuscled. That's just because he's a little slow and undersized for a centre-back.

In todays Sun, apparently saying he should have left us a few years ago!

Didnt mind a nice 4 year deal though did he? Christ, it all comes out when allegiances change...

It's the Sun which means I'd take this with a few massive pinches of salt but if this is true, it's very sad indeed that someone who most of us thought of as a club legend should say that.
