A word for the fans...

Just got in, Boy am I going to have a hangover later today. Got back to Woodham at about 9 and straight round my mates for something to eat and more alcohol! Sitting here with a beer as I type too! :)

If I really want to be picky we should have won, as the corner for their goal should have been a goal kick, not spotted, as the last touch came off Drogba, but who cares, the damage has been done to their reputation. A few sore losers, but on the whole really good day out and good reception from them, before and after.

People I'd like to thank for making today a real day of memories!.

In order of appearance:

The two Chelsea fans on the train from South Woodham to Shenfield - Good Banter and a laugh.

The barman and staff of Hamilton Hall, Liverpool St Station - IPA and a superb breakfast at 1030 set the day off nicely.

The doorman on the Slug and Lettuce - Fulham Broadway, real star before the game, legend after it for remembering us pre-match and letting us in at the head of the queue.

To Southend Vice Chairman Geoffrey King for having a beer with the fans in the slug and Lettuce pre match.

To the Bald headed Chelski fan in teh Slug, quality banter and an alround good geyser.

To the Chelsea fan before the game who bit completely in Fulham Broadway when we were singing - "Real Fans - You are not real fans - You are not real fans". Took the Heather Mlls award for going totally out of control in a public place!

To the Chelsea Stewards, who were the best set of stewards I've come across, helpful, polite, humourous and just bloody nice for a change.

for the other 5879 Shrimpers fans for making it a real day to remember as we all went spastic when the ball hit the back of the net.

To Francis Laurant for making Cashley Cole look like the muppet he is when he spun him off in the 85th minute.

Steve Mildenhall for several good saves, and like all good keepers, the best save for the cameras, right at the death when it meant so much.

To the players employees and officials of Southend United for giving me a team to support and follow that makes days like this worth living for.

Lastly a special mention to Peter clarke, for giving us a meaningful goal away at a premier****e team to relive forever and a day.

Yeah, I'm pished, but what a day and what memories to keep.

Replay, who cares, Chelsea playing a game they didn't expect to play and certainly at a location that with the exception of Lee sawyer, they would not have envisaged being on their football radar. So what if we get done by a hatfull. Today is mine to share with another 6,000 Blues and I loved it!

Me too. and very well put, thank you. everyone that went. and also for all the calls and text's from friends and others, around the world that i know for a day to rember for the rest of my life ! ! I would like to add a special thankyou to my dad for taking me in his arms back in 1966, and lifting me over the turnstile to see my first game, and showing me the way. Our singing of " We support our local team" is the thing we should all teach our children. Thank you Dad.

cheers Cricko

as you can see we had to sit in the East Upper - but so close to our own supporters . . . and with quite a few other Southend fans who were clearly delighted at the end of the match

great day out, magnificent support again, and a fantstic result

Al
