A genuine relegation battle

I imagine some of the players are shattered. Many have played almost every game this season and last, unable to rotate due to embargo. We dont seem to have the sharpness we had earlier on in the season.
One thing that stands out a mile and has for ages is our lack of set play threat, either creating or scoring. Been a problem for ages. If youre not playing well it just takes one good set play and a bullet header and you can get a goal out of nothing.
For first half corners and long throws on Saturday, our tactical genius on the touchline had gigantic Crowther (7 goals for Kings Lynn this season!) watching from the halfway line while Miley hovered on the edge of the area !

Very true, Sandat was unfortunate to be dropped for Cards and we have looked awful since. Also Coker is now not getting a look in, and to be honest I can’t blame Maher for sticking with Cav/Noor/Wes after Coker got injured, but something needs changing in attacking midfield/up front.

Even Dackers started off well playing with Sandat, but has been awful the last couple of games. We absolutely battered Eastleigh, but since then have hardly created anything going forward.

We are too predictable, hardly ever any balls through the middle of the pitch, slide rule passes in the channels, shots from the edge of the box etc. All we do is fart about, get the ball wide and put it in the box. Sometimes it works, but more often it doesn’t.

If we lose to Oxford, I think we are in serious trouble, however we are only 2 or 3 of wins from being back safely in mid table, so I’m not worried (yet).

I would play Sandat over Dackers , as pointed in an earlier post Sandat was involved in most of our goals or goal scoring incidents in Dec/Jan and can think himself unlucky.
Dackers is an ok player but isn;t as intelligent with his movement and on the ball as Henry, i didn;t see enough in his first spell to warrant a white board inclusion but he's here now, i would be dissapointed to see him start over Sandat or Waldron

Coker also is a goal threat and can also count himself unlucky but i do understand the trio of Morton , Cav and Husin , it almost seems that the headache of player selection has caused a inbalance in the team and performances have suffered

At present bizarrely it may not make sense to name our best 11 as it leaves us a bit defensive minded - i think Coker offers more that GSM ( albeit one of my fav players)

Colin
Kensdale Crowther Ralph

Coker Cav Husin Morton

Bridge Sandat

Cardwell(if fit)/ Waldron

Is Coker now fully fit ?

Sandat....
This young lad is so promising. From how it's been described to me and what we see on the pitch, both in matches and training, he's been displaying a football brain that's matured beyond his age. Dropping back to receive the ball and laying off intelligent balls and displaying better dark arts than his team !ages up front.
Unfortunately it seems that although kev takes on board others thoughts he's very reluctant to try different styles, formations or rest players unless injured and even then only if he absolutely must.
Some great ideas and refreshing selections on here .

Wes, Husin and Morton have all been ineffective in creating opportunities on he whole. One of the 3 positions in midfield has to be occupied by an attacking midfielder/number 10. I really think Sandat could flourish behind a front two. He likes to receive the ball in tight spaces and likes to be proactive in a forward fashion. He isn't scared to drive forward or have a shot himself.

I'd have him in behind Waldron and Cardwell this Saturday in place of either Morton or Husin.

Think you will find the reason Coker has missed the last couple of games is injury.

I stand corrected but thought he made way when Miley back got back in the side, either way ive a feeling he would be down the pecking order in Kev's middle 3, hence why a slight tweak in formation gives them all barring Wes a start in an attack minded midfield

GSM plays a different role to Coker.
I would leave Ralph on left and put Bridge on right WB's.
Put GSM in a forward mid field role.
He is almost the only guy that shoots on sight.. And heads a goal or two.

Tonight’s games are interesting for the relegation battle. We could see ourselves on level points with a drop zone team. Yes we have games in hand but they only matter if manage to not lose any of them. If we do the goal difference here chomped at and then we will be in a more serious relegation fight. I’m concerned we are not playing these games in hand atm though. We will end up having a tough April wirh Loads of games coming thick and fast and injuries potentially happening.

We already are level on points with dropzone

We have three rearranged games. One this month, one next month, and one in April. They are about as spread out as they could be, not all in April.

Only Wealdstone have played less games than us, & no doubt their awful pitch will lead to a couple more postponements within the next few weeks.
As their a 'part time' team, & with all the catching up they've got to do, i'd be surprised if they don't plummet down the table?.
