It was interesting on the Zoom call that Brown said he already knew who 6 or 7 of the starters would be against Kings Lynn. Thought it would be worth trying to second guess this. For my money the 7 in Brown's head will be (in 4-4-2 formation):

????

Demi ???? Hobson Ralph

???? Dunne Ogogo Bridge

Murphy ????

Dalby will, I assume, start unless "eyebrows" signs. Keeper will probably be Arnold if he can prove his physical and mental fitness. Centre back is a toss up between White and Coulson. Right wing, probably Egbri but maybe Walsh or even Holmes if he signs (maybe not as a winger but behind the front two).

Worrying that most of the obvious choices have got so few minutes of playing time under their belts at this late stage. It really does make you wonder what is going on behind the scenes as we look to be unprepared for the kick off yet again..

We've played three first team games this pre-season: Gt Wakering (first half), W*** H** (first half) and Brentford. The rest have been u23 sides in all but name (with Ferguson relegated to them to try and force him out)

Demetriou, Hobson, Dunne and Ogogo started all 3. John White played the second half at Wakering (nothing to be read into that, it was first game back) but started the other two and Murphy missed Wakering through injury but started the other two.

That's your six.

Add in Ralph who wasn't fit until Brentford, but is expected to be fit as your seventh - but the question will be as much what position he plays as Brown tried him as LCB rather than LWB last time out.

ps PB's talking about three centre-halves for this match rather than 4-4-2.

@Yorkshire Blue - I don't disagree with that - I wonder if White would have started all those games if Coulson hadn't broken his toe. If Coulson is now fit and starts tomorrow, I wonder if he jumps ahead of White. Although if, as suspected, we go for 3 CBs then there may be room for both of them. If that's the case is Ralph the preferred LWB or Bridge (assuming Clifford won't make the reckoning?)

I think we might line up something like this -
Arnold (if fit)
White Hobson Ralph
Demi Dunne Ogogo Bridge
Holmesor Walsh
Murphy Dalby

If we go with that set up, thats about the best we have in those slots and I think would be a reasonably strong side against most in the division. My only concern would be the keeper situation

Me too. And with Howard, Coulson, Clifford,, Egbri, Ferguson, Rush and maybe Akinola, we have basis of a good squad. We will do ok.

I don’t see many of the 1st team anywhere near full fitness. I think the U23’s are probably fitter as something fishy is going on. Why did he not play his strongest side on Saturday??? Against a team that will be similar to Kings Lynn in ability.

I'm not sure Kings Lynn are fairing much better - they got beaten 4-1 by a Conference North side on Saturday and were due to play their last pre-season friendly tomorrow night and its been cancelled!

People putting Akinola and holmes in the starting line up.

I doubt either will even be with the club come the first day of the season

The 10 players with the most votes would be my choice, so looks like we are all thinking the same.

I had a chat with one of the Kings Lynn guys on their site about amenities at their ground and he's provided some really useful info below:

There is no "complex" as such. "The Walks" is part of a large Park in a residential area.

Obviously there will be food and drink in the ground, but I personally don't bother with it. IMO overpriced and the quality is not to my liking.

There's a few small pubs very near to the ground (The Lord Napier is where many of the Trust meet prior to a game) but with the crowd you are likely to bring, I think all of them would struggle to accomodate you.

There is a Weatherspoons in the town centre and a few other pubs as well. Its only about a 10 minute walk to the ground from the town centre, so I do wonder if you would be better heading there rather than just choosing a pub because its near the ground.

If coming by train, right outside the station is "The Fenman".

If travelling by car, as you come into the town centre from the bypass, you will go past places such as Mcdonalds and Kentucky etc. Just before the "Southgates" (you'll know it when you see it), there is a Hungry Horse (Green King I think.....maybe Marstons). That's only about 400/500 yards from the ground.

Parking will probably be a nightmare and I wouldn't even bother heading directly to the ground by car. There is a multi storey car park in the town centre and I would suggest you head for that. Its probably halfway between where the ground is and the town centre is, so actually is quite convenient.

Hope this helps. If you Google Kings Lynn and find some places that interest you and want my opinion on them, don't hesitate to send me a PM.

Our Ground is very much a non league ground. 50 - 60 years ago it was classed as the best non league ground in the country. Its had a lot of money spent on it in recent years but you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear. Its a lovely non league ground, but I do think that for Clubs such as yours it will be a bit of a wake up call. Thankfully your game is at the start of the season. When the heavy weather comes the pitch will probably struggle to cope as it always has done. It's actually build on an old flood plain so is very low.

With pushing 5,000 likely to be in the ground, some will also experience restricted views. Someone on your forum said we have a capacity of 8,000. I don't know the exact figure these days, but I believe its just under the 5000 figure.

I do wonder/fear that out Club may not have enough experienced people on the ground, but that's another matter.

Have a fun day.....................and don't forget, win or lose, we have more toes than you!

Linnet here in peace. First of all shocked by the amount of tickets you lot have shifted..amazing Those spouting there maybe trouble will just be fighting with plod..they will be in force.. one of your lot even wrote King's Lynn have a firm that turn up 10 mins into every game.. Thanks for that. Made me giggle.i have been going for 30 years and hav nt seen our firm yet.. .the ground is 2 minutes from the train station, 3 minutes from bus station. 5 minutes from town centre.. We had a similar crowd against York before lockdown, so my advice is avoid town centre pubs as they will be packed to the rafters and you will q for ale.. I suggest St James St.. 5 mins walk from stadium. White Hart (don't smash it up, it's my local) and the wenns. Both good beer. Don't expect beer or food in the ground.. U will be ripped off.. Also u won't outnumber the home fans, this is big for us, despite our rip off chairman there will be 3k home supporters. For a small town its our biggest league game for 60 years. As for shrimpers buying tickets in home sections, our chairman is greedy, you will get more tickets. We are boxing well above our weight and very badly run, but u will have a great day I'm sure..

Thanks for that. We are badly run as well so know how you feel!

I'd go something like

Arnold
JD Coulson Hobson Ralph
Egbri Dunne Ogogo Bridge
Dalby Murphy

but seems like Brown is going to favour 3 at the back so

Arnold
Hobson Coulson White
JD Dunne Ferguson or Phillips Ogogo Bridge
Murphy Dalby

Based on what I saw on Tuesday night I'd go with the following:
Arnold
Hobson
Coulson
Ralph
Phillips
Ogogo
Demetriou
Dunne

Bridge
Dalby
Murphy

I feel that the midfield three can easily rotate their positions and help each other out as the game goes on.

The likes of Egbri, Rush & hopefully Dennis to come off the bench later in the game.
