Did we? How many minutes combined did they play for the first team? Some chance!

Why do people think the management need to see players in a first team game to judge them??!?

They see them every single day and in development games, plus loan spells.

If they look rubbish in training are you really suggesting the manager should play them "just in case" they are only rubbish in training?

Fans make judgements on matches, coaches make judgments on far more than that.

The same way a player coming back from an injury needs to get himself 'match fit'

You find your true form in an actual game situation, not a training session, which, if reports are to be believed, theres better striker training at an under 10's team than there is here!

Only just seen this but that's completely.different.

A player without match fitness would still be showing he was capable on the training pitch. He may need time to get fully sharp but would already have been judged.

A player who hasn't shown any talent in training, development games or on loan isn't going to be given a chance in a real game just in case they are better than they looked everywhere else.

In terms of wages the two of them probably cost us max £10k combined over half a season, it's a worthwhile gamble considering the possible value to the club if one of them had looked to have a chance of making it at this level in the near future.
We can't have players sitting on the books on pro contracts in the hopes that they'll be league 2 ready in 2 or 3 years and it takes a few months to get a true feel for this so it seems a good time to let them go.

i'm honestly surprised by the stick that Brown is getting here
this happens all the time. sometimes is comes off, sometimes it doesn't - that's the nature of football
