Available for free transfer or on loan. Doesn't say who is which, but it they are trying to get rid of all 5 then signing Layne and Ellis Brown in the summer seems rather pointless.

Also mentioned Jason Williams and Jack Bridge are available on loan, "hopefully to the next level" says Brown.

Jesus Brown. This sort of mismanagement is why the position of "director of football" exists in the modern game!

We have way too many central midfielders so seeing Clifford go on the list is of little surprise, Layne and Brown were both long shots and PB obviously doesn't think that Farrell or Banton will make the grade.

Williams and Bridge seem to be rated and it will do them good to get back out on loan and play some proper football

He has lost the plot, im assuming Brown and Layne are loans because if not then I'm confused as hell why he bothered signing them.

Haha

Classic stuff from Phil.

Layne Brown and Williams all available for either loan or transfer.

Looks to me more like it's a gamble that didn't pay off with Layne & Brown and, given the chance to get (I assume) some more experience in up front, we're sacrificing thier possible long-term potential.

It's a shame it didn't work out, no doubt, but don't think it warrants even that low-grade abusing of Phil - or Ron for that matter.

Can't complain. He clearly wants to free up some wages so we can get some more players in mostly youth that won't make the grade and Clifford who hasn't been involved for quite a while so no change on the pitch and Phil doing what must be done to get us up. I could say I am happy to see this. Wish all the players the best for the future especially Clifford I think he is a good player but then I am not the manager.

If you actually read the statement properly PB say's Williams is available for loan to the next level, not transfer listed!

Yes I know,

But why bring him back from Chelmsford where he was scoring for fun and now ship him out to whoever wants him.JW Imo has been treated shabbily .

Because he hoped they'd be better than they are, you have to assume.

Lads, we shop in the bargain bucket. Nine times out of ten what we buy will be rubbish. If people want us to take more punts from the local non-league scene (and I'm sure we all do) then that means that we need to get used to the vast majority of those punts not working out.

Interesting that Lee Barnard is not on the list.

The way it's worded it seems to me that Brown just wants rid of the 5, if no one will take them on a free then a loan will do until their contracts are up.

Very questionable to have Brown and Layne in their given they haven't even been at the club for a season yet and haven't had a chance anywhere near the first team. The whole Clifford saga is ridiculous and I have a feeling he'll go on to do well somewhere else.

Offering Williams for loan is another weird one, should've stayed at Chelmsford until we really didn't have any other option unless PB thought he was ready for the first team, which he clearly doesn't.

But how can you say it hasn't worked out for them, they haven't even been given a run out.

I actually agree with you on this. Williams has probably been held back in his progress because PB is clueless. Inexcusable. This clear out of players is expected and long overdue and to my mind from a manager that has reacted very, very slowly to what has been needed and blindingly obvious.

No the article says loan OR free Transfer (my emphasis on the 'or')

Problem is the article it doesn't make it clear who is available for loan or who is available for transfer.

Hopefully only Clifford is available for transfer and the others on loan.

Jason Williams to conference level with Isaac Layne, Jack Bridge, Ellis Brown, Kane Farrell and Josh Banton to conference or conference south level.

They get a run out every single day in training.

But training and a match are two different things, I've read loads of football biographies that have talked about players who are terrible in training but when on the pitch are amazing.
