So basically what you're advocating is zero tolerance for verbal abuse at football matches. You therefore can no longer abuse opposition players in any way at all. If you call them a ginger tw&t, fat **** etc, it's abuse.

I really cannot believe the sort of PC crap that some people advocate. Racist abuse is unnacceptable but insinuating that the use of the word pikey is racist is laughable. Maybe you shouldn't believe everything you read in the Guardian.

Wessex Blue. I understand that travellers find it offensive similar to the use of the term gypo. Surely its they who should be making the decisions and not us none travellers. To some white people the term '******' is not offensive, but to black people it is.

ok Mr Roy orracle Fox please explain if it is ok for one non-caucasion to call another one by the dreaded ( looks over left shoulder , checks and double checks over right shoulder for the thought Police ) " N " word ? . as it is widely acknowledged that inbeeding is a part of life in the north Essex town (allegedly) then you are free to say that they are inbreds (for which you cannot be charged with scandal) or if you prefer write it down (for which you can't be charged with libel)

I think that ones more to do with the historical presedence of natives to say Ipswich in the lat 1600's that may have caused a small amount of "inbreeding" to take place.

In reply to Wessex Blue , surly verbal assault as the phrases you have used can be constituded as such , are almost as bad as minor physical assult , and in some cases arouse a similar reponse in the victim (i.e going to punch you ). SO Police maybe inforce this on th egrounds of public order and protecting the gobby person in the first place (to be fair as was demonstrated by Eric Cantonas kick on an abusing fan , if you did insult a player to his face his most likley to kick your face in).

Now of course i see peoples point about passion , and expressing your opions of the players of our wonderful game , but im still drawing a blank on how instulting what a person can be deemed to be phyiscaly /geneticly actually makes any sense , and shows nothing but ignorance ??

I think you've had your say now, Royfox (over two threads). The topic has been done to death now and is going nowhere. Actually, I find your continual reference to posters as p%&cks (and accusing them of being racist because they question the term 'pikey' as racism) offensive in itself.

I think we know people's stand-points by now.
