'Pikey' an arrestable offence

Whilst on this topic, thought I'd let you in on an incident which occured
at West Ham on Saturday. The usual banter was flying across from the chicken run to the City end and vice versa. One chant went up from our end of you're just a town full of pikeys. I get a tap on the shoulder from the old bill, who thought something else had been said, and was asked to accompany them. Fortunately for me, the copper accepted that my manc accent was to blame, but he pointed out that the use of the word Pikey was still technically an offence, and if he wanted he could do me for it. He accepted that I wasn't a racist, that I was ignorant of the fact the word Pikey could be construed as racist, for which I apologised, and I was allowed back in to the match.
I consider myself extremely lucky, because if that copper had wanted to nick me, I'd have been up in court, probably banned from ef as a result, and no doubt spent a lot of time and money in effort to clear my name.
Just goes to show you can't be too careful, and I'll certainly be more selective in what songs I do and dont sing in future.........Shocked

Ridiculous really. You may not like people using the word pikey but it is really a part of the English game these days. It's hardly swearing is it? I can think of far more offensive words where the police do not bat an eyelid, despite the fact that there are young families in the area.

Can't wait for you to give it a few 'Pikeys' over Roots Hall mister. Would love to see your collar felt. I'll be looking out for you with open ears.

No they may not be but they are equally offensive but equally the word 'pikey' may not always be construed as racist surely?

You've pulled in a lot today, good days work Roy.
If Roy has been "fishing" he has indeed netted a few!

See above! It's a derogatory expression for a traveller.

It may be but surely not worthy of an arrest?

Roy is not fishing at all, the posts on England fans are serious. In fact he's becoming a bit of a laughing stock. Some of the replies are treating him like a joke. PC gone made mr Fox. Get a life or you'll be taking a flask and your knitting to football soon, or should I say soccor. Halfwit.:blues:

If that term is to be construed as a racial slur then surely it would be no different to the fans making monkey noises at Black players, Maybe the old bill should start wading into the North Bank the next time the away fans are giving Freddy stick about his backgroudn.

For gods sake Roy chill out, you only posted on England fans to try and find out the name of someone who pulled your chain. As if anyone on there would grass one of their own.

May have had a few [3] who support you , but all the rest find it highly amusing. As I said chill out.

Maybe YOU find it amusing because your a sad individual. Your a big man behind your registered username!

I find it amusing that even though, and youv'e admited it. That the original post was NOT racist. But you are annoyed that the poster named you as an England fans member. Your own words Roy. You have a bee in your anarack thats whats bugging you.

Get a life you sad SAD person. The original thread was closed so you have to trawl it all up again just to stir up the sh!t. I fail to see the point of it. I'm sick to death of middle class PC idiots trying to ruin this great game of ours. Calling Freddy a pikey is BANTER. You may find it distasteful but if I was to complain at everything I didn't like at Roots Hall the stewards would have a field day.
