Much was expected of Kaymer and he really failed to deliver.
In the two fourballs he only won two holes and was carried by some excellent play from Westwood and Poulter and he didn't contribute too much in the foursomes with Westwood either. The he was obliterated by Johnson in the singles. True, Johnson hit 5 birdies in a row to win it but Kaymer had already let the match slip with three early bogeys.
Molinari was actually 4 under when his match with Woods finished, he was just unlucky to come up against a Tiger who looked back to his old self. His approach to 18 to get the half on Sunday was an immense shot under pressure and turned out to be vital.
I didn't watch much of the golf, but I listened to a lot of it on Five Live. I got the impression that there was a real desire in the media for the Molinari brothers to succeed, far more so than, say, Kaymer and Hanson. Of course, they were loving McDowell and McIllroy too.
