£1.5M or £2M received for Mr. Eastwood....

I presume whatever fee we recieved upfront is nestling in SUFC's bank account.
Whether we spend any of it, time will tell I guess.

Donating it to Camp Bling. We can then plant a giant tree in Priory Park and call it the Drewebling Tree in tribute to Mr. Broughton's pace and agility.

Hope it doesn't stay in their account too long, we need a new striker quick!

Who would you suggest, then? Just because we now have some cash doesn't mean we should blow it at the earliest opportunity. Obviously we've lost a major talent in Freddy but there's nobody out there that immediately springs to mind in terms of a replacement, and the last thing we need to do now is to panic-buy.

Personally, I'd give our current crop of strikers the chance to prove themselves and then assess the situation again in January. Between Harrold, Paynter, MacDonald and Hooper (and possibly Foran), I think Tilly is capable of finding a decent partnership to get us some goals and keep us in and around the top six.

Can't we just give the strikers we have now a chance? You never know, now Freddy has gone a few of them might up their game a little.

Give the current strikers a chance.

...so what is happening with it?

Could not care less. I want a "replacement" as soon as possible. Freddy's gone, we have to live with that and the only way to do that is through a quality replacement to ensure that we are able to get promotion again. Some may say that we still need to give our existing strikers a chance, but I'm still not entirely convinced that we have enough quality to really progress in this league.

Fair enough. But how about giving us names of potential targets?

I don't see there being too many quality strikers out there. Even someone like Hayter wouldn't have guaranteed goals. If we can get someone as good as Adam Boyd or Grant Holt in then brilliant, lets do it, but otherwise we may as well stick with what we've got.

I'm not sure that I meant it quite like it came out. :o

The players we currently have are either unproven at this level (Charlie Macdonald) or lacking in true experience/confidence (Hooper, Paynter, Harrold). I'm not saying that they don't deserve a chance (of course they do) but whether or not they will be enough to get promoted from a league that has progressed quite significantly since we were last in it is a different matter.

As for who we get in, I have no idea. That's why Tilly's the manager and I'm a mere fan with opinions, just like the rest of you!

You are indeed just a fan, but it will be fans that will complain when Tilson hasnt done the impossible and brought in a replacement the same level of Freddy.

All the things you have listed that are wrong with our players are the things that allow us to get them. McDonald has only scored 27 non league goals last season, but if he had scored them at League Two level he would be joining a team bigger than ours.

Any striker that has in the past scored 20 goals will immediately be out of our league and whilst Tilson is no doubt looking for who he could bring in the chances are they will be as unproven as what we have.

As to the original quesion, I know no more than anyone else but its pretty obvious the fee was 1.5m + clauses. The echo were reporting 2million but even they have changed the amount in recent stories.
