Transfer News, Gossip & Speculation Transfer Rumours Thread 2024/2025.

Transfer news
He probably was worth a gamble but it hasn't paid off, are we stuck with him or can we cut our losses, pay him off and use the budget elsewhere ?
Although the goals haven’t come (so far) he has done a decent job for us and has put in the effort. His biggest contribution currently is putting himself between him and the next target…who will also start scoring in due course…

Yes this guy is being mentioned all over the place at present, Pete O’Rourke said on X the other day we were interested in him too, he must be getting a Brown envelope from his agent! “ Non-League goalscoring sensation Daniel Ogunleye is a target for a number of EFL and National League clubs this month, including Colchester and Hartlepool. Brentwood Town striker Ogunleye has scored 23 goals so far this season.”
Be surprised if he doesn’t go somewhere in Jan. If I was his agent I would say it’s impossible to surpass the season so far and the risk is you go through a lean spell. Best for you and Brentwood we cash in,

So back to the cash bit. How many of those clubs would we outbid? Maybe we have to outbid them all? There again he is local and a relatively big club so close enough may suffice?

Wil he wait till the transfer window closes to see what offers may come from the EFL?

Isthmian North is level 8 in the league pyramid. 3 leagues below us, and 4 leagues below EFL lge 2. I live locally to a few level 7 teams, including Alvechurch where we signed Danny Waldron from - I spoke to a few of their fans when we signed him and they raved about him but he hasn't exactly set the world alight with us yet.

I didn't go to our cup game against Brentwood so those that saw that game will have a more informed opinion of his ability than I do, but I think his agent is doing some heavy lifting here. He's probably a future prospect more than a 1st team player for NL and lge2 teams.

Is that Brentwood striker not another Danny Waldron signing tho? He scored alot of goals lower down and hasn't really got going yet, these type of signings don't usually feel me with a great deal of excitement, surely we need players better than this to get us out of the league?? Nothing against the lad, just not where we should be looking at the moment

Just saying that’s not where we signed him from.

On Waldron, I genuinely believe he has the potential to be a threat but he NEEDS game time. It’s a difficult scenario - glad I’m not in charge of the team!
Fair point. Waldron was a bit of a local legend in these parts, I thought he signed directly from Alvechurch.

In no way am I suggesting that we shall make a signing before tomorrow's game. However, it should be well noted that there was little warning of the Harkness signing on Wednesday. Looks as if that could be the way of the (Southend United) world now?

I’d say the management team are desperate for him to succeed, but at a guess, he’s probably not doing the business in training.

Since returning from injury he’s not had a look in, and that’s despite the other strikers (Pep aside) failing to hit the broadside of a barn.

There has to be a logical reason for that. Not reaching the grade in training, would likely answer it.

Then again, Wood was apparently doing great in training and still didn’t get a run of games ..so who knows.
