I'm gonna hazard a guess at £275kAgreed. It has to be worth us selling. If we have to pay £25k for a risk from the league below, then I’d think we’d want more like £100k minimum

Surely a wind upI'm gonna hazard a guess at £275k
A Striker is a Striker, not every team will play with Wing backs, and you certainly wouldn’t build your team around a wing backhow much would you pay for a NL striker that just scored 17 goals in a season Plus also had a few assists as well.
And is in team of the year.how much would you pay for a NL striker that just scored 17 goals in a season Plus also had a few assists as well.
No. As is the norm on SZ someone mentioned about him possibly moving on and everyone else just joins in on the speculation. So no-one with any actual knowledge about GSM then?
Why did I just read that with the voice of Simon Jordan in my head?A player is only worth what another club is willing to pay for him.
If anyone thought he could replicate his seventeen goal season the fee will likely be north of 100,000 but if the belief is he is unlikely to ever match that again he will go for much less.
If he does leave us regardless of what fee we might receive he was an exceptionally astute signing. Previously a part timer as he quickly adapted to a higher level of football, and, over three seasons played no less than one hundred and twenty one times for us, scoring thirty goals. Memorably, he once also filled in as our goalkeeper. Also relevant is that in all of those games he never gave less than his all.
As far as I know he has no academy background and is an unusual player for these times as his background seems to be exclusively non league. Kudos to whoever spotted him and advocated his signing..
He would not have been an expensive recruit (we were pretty much skint when we was brought in). No one could begrudge him now going elsewhere to secure better pay than we might be able to offer.
Next time we read that Carlisle or York have dug deep into their pockets to sign a player it will be worth remembering GSM. Unheralded, he came to us from pretty much nowhere and yet was able to make a real difference. If we are to move out from the NL it will be because of more signings with a GSM type background rather than splashing out on signing on fees and wages much higher than the league norm.
Never mind Cashman, our best signings for the coming season might be players most Blues supporters have yet to hear of.
In the meantime as far as GSM is concerned whether he stays or goes he will remain much loved by most if not all Blues supporters.
I think you mean minimum.£275,000 for GSM? Where are people getting these crazy numbers from? I'd say a maximum of £758 billion.
I’m pretty sure Cardwells release clause was £145kWe paid £35k for Cards and had written into his contract a release clause of £120k.
We paid less for GUS and he plays in a position that has a lower price than a goalscoring Striker.
Therefore, even with his incredible season last time around, I would expect, if we sold him, an accepted value would be between £75k to £100k, possibly with add ons, goals, appearances etc.

I know Danny Cowley said he would have a chat with Ben and see what he wanted to do, since then we have lost the guy (Fiacre Kelleher) who was keeping him out of the side as he has gone back home to play for Cork City. We have complications here because the prospective new owners haven't bought the club yet so everything is a little uncertain at present. Of course players/managers are away on holiday at present, I don't think much will happen until contracts expire at the end of June. Ben is under contract for another year with us having another years option after that most probably, but I am sure the club will do whatever is best for Ben one way or another.Simon Jordan? Arguably better looking but less financially secure.
And on another topic completely I thought Goodliffe's threat in the box backed up by vital goals were a vital part of our late push which ended at Wembley. If he is not to return, as seems likely, can we replace the attacking side of his game. The goals he scored might be much harder to replace than the ones Hopper, Kendall, Boone and Walker may or may not score in 2025/26.
Speaks volumes.Over a full season I would back Goodliffe to score more goals than Walker, Hopper or Bonne.
