Breaking News Retained/Released list - Wood and Waldron released

I get it that the face doesn't fit sometimes, but i just want players given a fair crack of the whip. What if Waldrons attitude sunk, because the lack of chances he had been given. GW could go the same way, always been overlooked, and not getting on at Wembley, players are like you and me, we react to the way we are treated. Didn't a top manager say, you have to put an arm around a player when things not going to plan, not just push him to one side and ignore.

No you don't. If they are first to drop out in training sessions in early August. If they can't get out of bed or show no effort and look weak when they do get game time.......Tell to F***k off back to part time where they belong. Arms are for 10 year olds not professional players.

You are @The Original Tribal Chief's long lost twin brother and I claim my £5.

Who knows he did? professional players still want to play, if not given the chance you look else where. They are no different to school kids in that way. I don't want us to lose another player through lack of opportunities, we have no reserve team so the chances of game time is very limited.

George knows that he has Gus in front of him. He also knows that he won't be there forever and he has age on his side 22 vs 28. You have to remember he has stepped up from Billericay 2 leagues below the National League.

He is looking forward to the new season and will again be putting the effort in on the training pitch to improve himself as a player.

All he can do is ensure when he is called upon to play he puts in a decent performance (Hartlepool away)
Completely agree with this and Gus has had a blinder of a season. Maybe it was because of experience but Wind must have been thinking what do I have to do to get on at the end of Sunday. Even before Oldham equalised in ET Gus was absolutely blowing out of his arse and could barely run. Then at the end of the game chasing a goal, he couldn't even beat the first man with his crosses. Happened a few times.

Back on topic. I would like to keep Bonne and to be honest see him above Hopper and Walker. However as the only one of the strikers out of contract and wanting to make improvements can understand if he isn't kept on.

Every year and under several managers, we have a list of players that some fans claim have never been "given a fair chance"

They are released and higher than 9 out of 10 prove the management know what they are talking about and fans who believe in personal vendettas don't.

This is going to blow your mind but we're talking about adult human beings that come from different places, view the world differently and react differently to things going on around them, differently even to the person next to them.

A bollocking works with some people but not everyone. Good managers (in any walk of life) find out what motivates their staff and adapt accordingly.

Walker ‘might’ come good with an injury free pre season .. let’s hope so.
Hopper is the muscle up front for the start of next season, that’s pretty much a given .
Kendal could go either way ..
Bonnie is an intelligent footballer, he should be used accordingly and has been on occasion .

I don’t agree with multiple subs, if you can’t last the 90 then tough, same with rugby these days .
2 should be the max for injuries only, it’s not ice hockey ..
But we are where we are so all 4 of the above should be able to do a job right from the start of next season …..
We need an innis type centre half plus maybe a loan one as well.
We also need an attacking midfielder if only to stop my **** from boiling watching Hussain and Miley miss yet another run from Bonne/Kaf/Lcp or GSM in a hectare of space in front of the East reds

Do you accept, however, that the 2nd half of the season was more successful than the 1st? The extrapolation being we're moving in the right direction.
The team have the experience of finishing the season stronger in last 4 years, all we need is to make a fantastic start in first half of the season, if we are in top 3 and not far off the top by January, then we have a chance.

I hear Wind has gained a reputation for a very good attitude towards development. He gives absolutely everything in training, is always there ready, always ready for extra work and wants to learn. No hissy fits like some. But as mentioned, he has nowhere near the experience of nous needed for regular starts in the first team at NL level. It's a huge learning curve from 2 leagues below but he's a good prospect with more pace than gus.

I’ve no doubt that with his pace in the final 10 minutes of games it’s worth taking a gamble and putting him on to see if he can get us some attacking threat .
Although I love Gus he does run himself into the ground most weeks and looks a little leggy towards the end of games

Yes, if our manager had shown any awareness and put Wind on ,in place of Gus who was totally knackered at ht of extra time,I think we would now be back in the League.

Yes in hind sight that was probably a mistake ,but hopefully Maher and co have learnt from it. hat i would like more than anything this season ,even though i know i hoping for a miracle is a major upgrade in the referees and linesmen.. Thats something the powers that be in the NL should be targeting.

What if Maher had even more of your insight and subbed him at full time. Gus would have never had the chance to show more energy than anyone else on the pitch to provide Leon's goal that put us 2-1 up.

What if GW had made nervous back pass and cost us the game?

The great game of what ifs when comes to subs. Nobody can ever be wrong. What ever subs we choose, the outcome would have always be better than the mangers choice.

Indeed.

Although i do feel its a shame he didnt get to run out and play at wembley.

If Wind had been brought on for GSM and we still lost, you would have had an even longer thread and outcry, on why take our top scorer and undoubted goal threat off for a defensive minded replacement. Also would have been a penalty taker.

Yeah, I kind of agree with this, but Gus was always odds on to take a penalty.

This is exactly it. Hindsight is a wonderful thing but the backlash Kev would have got for 'being defensive' if he would have took off our top goalscorer for the more defensive Wind would have been huge. "Typical Maher not going for it, sitting back on a lead."

IF????????

If we’d folded at 3-1 down v Rochdale we wouldn’t be having a Wind debate.

If we’d folded at FGR we wouldn’t be having a Wind debate.

If I hadn’t had a large fry up this morning we wouldn’t be having a wind debate.

If we’d have scored one of two decent chances in ET at 2-1 up we wouldn’t have been having a Wind debate. I suspect at 3-1 he’d have been given time on the pitch enabling GSM to walk off with massive applause from us fans.

If we’d won 3-1 guess what ? Wind would still have been on the release list.
