TBV @ Wembley

Sorry if I am being particularly dense or just particularly old, but what is a "tifo"?
It all stems from the Italian "Ultra" culture, which seems to have infiltrated English football a little since the early 2000's. Palaces "Holmesdale Ultras" have probably embraced the culture more than any other group in English football and were one of the first such groups. When we came up with the idea of "TBV" back in 2007 it was off the back of some good chats with guys from Palace and other groups across the UK.

"Tifo" is short for "Tifosi" which means a group of fans in Italian. "Tifosi" originates from "Tifoso", which means fanatics. So basically a group of fanatics that are known to bring noise and colour to whatever event they attend. Ferrari F1 fans for instance are called the "Tifosi" and you will often see them with flares, flags, banners, horns etc at races.

It's a marmite culture here in UK football. Personally (obviously) I'm all for a few displays and plenty of noise at football. That's actually more important to me, than say the view. I'd always stand where the noise is (W Block/North Bank) rather than worry about getting a great view from the South Upper for instance. But, not every fan feels that way and that's fine too.

Once we know what blocks we have got, worth trying to arrange a 'good view - actual fans' block too. Obviously would never be as formalised as a singing section but we could manage it on SZ.

Useful for those who prefer sitting side-on but also want to be around proper Shrimpers.

The singing section’s success is all going to come down to clear communication from the club. As organised as some of our fans are, not everyone is on SZ and this needs to be put across the clubs official social media so people aren’t disappointed with having to stand/sit.
It was so simple last time. They literally said, blocks 156 and 155 are the singing section. Job done.

Even my son - who went to FGR - is giving me stick saying I should be lower priority for Wembley tickets. Hey, I was at Gateshead! Not to mention all the many hundreds of away games I’ve been to over the years 😬
Agree with you.
Did all of the fans who travelled pay for a season ticket for the last 40yrs? Did they contribute money to the club when it was struggling? I like so many many others have and did. Why should fans who happened to travel to 3 away games be treated better than anyone else who have supported the club through thick and thin probably before they were even borne.

Italian football culture has infiltrated English football culture ever since Liverpool went to Europe and nicked some Fila and Sergio Tacchini

Another left field suggestion for a tifo, but this one would go down in history. How about we all hold up cards that reveal the image of Ray Winstone with the snooker balls /sock from Scum with the caption “Who’s the Daddy now?”

Just spitballing tbh, I’ll circle back if I come up with anything else

Replace Ray Winstone with Kev Maher and I’m in on this

Drums appear to be banned (unless licensed) and how rigorously they enforce flag rules is anyone’s guess. Also flags of nations not competing are banned but im assuming that’s for internationals.
  • Wembley Stadium reserves the right to confiscate flags if they are very large or may compromise public safety, obscure someone’s view, a camera position or if a flag carries offensive, discriminatory or inflammatory messaging.
  • On levels 1 & 2,flags more than 250cm in size at their widest or longest section will not be allowed (without additional permission) and flagpoles greater than 1m in length and 1cm in diameter will not allowed.
  • On level 5of the stadium, flags more than 200cm x 100cm will not be allowed and flagpoles greater than 1m in length and 1cm in diameter will not allowed. Any flags greater in length than this will not be permitted.
  • Permission must be sought in advance from the stadium and event owner to arrange use of the very large supporter flags that are designed to be passed over people's heads. In such cases the flag must be flame retardant and the organiser bringing the flag into the stadium will need to provide the appropriate H&S certification.
