I said after Gateshead that it was difficult to see anyone other than Forest Green and York City making the play-off final.

I think, given how easily Oldham disposed of York and Halifax, its hard to see anything other than an Oldham win in the final but the fact it is Oldham vs Southend in the final shows that anything can happen with this type of competition.

My dad, a huge reason why I support this club, passed away just before the final match of the season when we missed out on the league one playoffs to Millwall. It's been an absolute s*** show since then, so to have this glimmer of hope now has me emotional.

One more match to go this season. Win or Lose I am already proud of what this club has become but let's get this done.

This has been a decision we have been swerving, but now had to be faced. We're picking up our new pup on Saturday and she is 8 weeks old. She will have only been with us for a week come Finals Day and it just wouldn't be fair to leave her for the day so soon, so sadly, we're not going to the final. So it will be DAZN for us.

Ironically, it's only a month ago that we pulled Oldham's panties down at Roots Hall and they let our shortest player score with his head. They've only played teams that bottled it in the play-offs so far. I don't see us bottling it, do you?

Stick some shades on, hold a white stick and book a seat for the dog to come along for the journey

For anyone whose heart is warmed by hearing opposition fans speak kindly about our club and manager needs to listen to this Rochdale-supporting young lady on the Absolutely Non League podcast. The bit I'm referring to starts at around 1.21.35:
This is really very good stuff.

I did see a bit about the tribute at Rochdale but hadn't realised our players & management had given it so much respect. Quality from the team & yet another display of how to get respect from opponent's fans with just some thoughtfulness.

Scunthorpe (and Carlisle) will be up there on the attendance front next season.

Jebbo37 was at the game yesterday. Expecting an update soon

Sorry @Hooly, showing my ignorance here. What was the tribute for and a flag was mentioned?

Hi @Crowstone Crevette It was a tribute for a former Rochdale player called Joey Thompson who passed away about a month ago at the age of 36 after 3 bouts of cancer.

Charlotte, a Rochdale fan, who is the lead on this mentioned at about 1.22.50 that they had new flag displayed for him before the game. She says that our players & management team went over to it during the warm up, laid some flowers, stood there & applauded for about a minute.

I've tried to add a clip of that part of the podcast but to me it shows the real step up in class of the club as a whole. The guys may well have done this in the past off their own back but it just feels now it's the entire club involved from the top down rather than the bottom up & only getting so far up that ladder.

Oldham fan here in peace. I’ve been a keen viewer of your forum all season. I expected you to win the league so I was surprised with your slow start. I read at some point on here the majority was Maher out. Even some saying it during your game v Rochdale.

I think it’s generally a 50/50 game when we play. We have made 9 changes to the team we played with our better players now back from injury.

I put a bet on yourselves at 33s at one point you were 66s before the ebbsfleet game.

I’m glad it’s two proper clubs in the final and I think you will have more fans due to locality but I think we will push around 25k

Exactly that - both teams - Oldham & Southend - have taken the opportunities as they presented. The rest of the season including the games between both these teams is largely irrelevant now.

Welcome, you need to start circulating the potential travel issues for Jun 1, though I’m guessing it’s already out there oop North???. What a phenomenal final it is going to be between two proper clubs (to some extent I include York and Rochdale) with massive fan bases.

The timeline of this thread could literally be a football documentary. So many lows, then so much hope, then more set backs then wow, so many other teams results went our way. I think it’s written in the stars tbh. Look at the last game of the season, then the first play off game then last nights play off game. Crazy scenes. Will be heart breaking to lose and Wembley now.
