Post-Match Thread and Ratings Rochdale 3-4 Southend United

Well, still coming down from the high of last night. Probably the best experience I've had watching this club since the 2015 play-off final, and I can't think of a better comeback I've seen when you consider the circumstances as well. It was a game of momentum shifts. At 3-1 I thought it was game over but our second goal really gave us a lift and Dale started to look tired and edgy. Won't do ratings for everyone but Goodliffe (please sign him permanently), KAF and Hopper were the standout performers for me. Hayes had a shaky start but grew in confidence as the game went on, although I'm not convinced about him as number one long term. Credit to Maher for his subs as Leon and Kendall in particular had a real positive impact, not just with their goals.

Goes without saying the away support was excellent, lots of old-school faces in the crowd. Credit to the Dale fans too, they made it a good atmosphere all round.

Another thing: our game management at the end has been superb in the last two matches. Clearing the ball, holding it up, running down the clock. That's an area where I feel we've improved this season - previously we were maybe a bit naive but we seem to have become more streetwise, which you need to get out of this division.

Forest Green will be a step up but with our support and the advantage of having had this extra match we can do it. Southend away ole ole

By segregating the away end surely they will lose out in ticket sales? Where as id we was to have the whole end they could make more money, but you never know

FGR only have room for just over 5000 fans, I would think you will get around 10-15% of that capacity, it will depend on the layout of the stand and how they can arrange segregation. The area of Nailsworth it is situated in only has a population of 6K but no doubt locals from clubs nearby will add their support and swallow up the home areas very quickly.
we went there a few weeks back and took around 500. the away terrace plus seats i believe holds around a 1000. bizarre that they would restrict us to 600 as they wont use the terrace themselves so potentially losing out on a lot of revenue. i get the 15% but thats just the minimum they need to give

one thing i didn;t mention which i thought was great , among all the celebrations i witnessed Colin sprint over to Hayes and jump all over him celebrating , shows a great professionalism & Character to big up your main rival like that despite probably being bitterly disappointed not to be playing in such occasions

my opinion of Colin went up a few notches after seeing that .......what a great lad and a touch of class

Agreed. Just literally made the same comment

Bloody hell. What a night. Not much tippy tap on show ! Frenetic, energetic and direct. Great stuff. Bonne turned the game in my book. Superb support. Hope they can regroup and go again at that level of intensity next week. Didn’t think we were that bad first half but certainly looked buried for a while.

I suspect that he doesn't know what clout means. Saying we have clout with the efl is downright daft. Transfer embargos , points deductions , million pound deposits , does not sound like a club with any clout with the League to me.

As for the depth and strength comments , whilst true for the 2nd half of the season , we haven't spent money , we have recruited wisely . But depth , they had a 19 goals this season striker on the bench , plus another two double figure strikers on the bench . Whilst they made several signings (albeit all free transfers) the have used the loan market frequently and with quite a bit of success.

McNulty feels he got the best out of his players , well Maher got more desire and grit out of his.
I think he means financial clout.

He’s probably not wrong. Since we strengthened the squad around a Christmas time we’ve been much improved. Our depth is much better than what it was first half (now watch everyone suggest that we ditch everyone who isn’t a starter when we discuss retained lists).

I don’t think the side that signed Harry Cardwell away from us to weaken us is that concerned about a few thousand pounds.

I was very critical of Hayes on here in the first half, but he really grew into the game and started to command his box a lot better. As shrimperjon has said, if you’re going to mention the first goal (which I maintain was a mistake from him) you have to mention the multiple other saves later on in the game and the multiple claims from crosses that took all the pressure off us late on.
After reading this post I've watched the highlights video on DAZN a number of times and really can't see where Hayes was at fault for their first goal. What mistake do you think he made?

ive heard its 580 and Southend have asked for the full allocation of 1100, but they are reluctant to give us them.
If they were gonna segregate to get more home fans in I'd actually accept it but last night you couldn't buy home tickets in the away stand so they're going to limit us for tactical reasons. How embarrassing and just shows how much we are in their heads already imo

New Lawn hold 5,140.

15% of that is roughly 770.

Unless their stadium has condemned areas like ours i can't see the reduction to the figures being quoted.

Would be nice if they gave us the full capacity but no club is going to give an advantage like that. Its not like they need the cash. I'm sure they would prefer less Southend fans there than a few extra quid to slosh around in the bank account.

Should a new thread be opened for Forest Green ticket discussion...
