Post-Match Thread and Ratings Rochdale 3-4 Southend United

Bonne also has a very good footballing brain. That first time, driven low cross which was turned in by Leon Parillion last night was like a dagger through the heart of the Rochdale defence.
Thing is Hopper and Parillon knew they could rely on Bonne to deliver that so they both gambled and got their reward. It’s been said so many times attackers love early balls into the box and when it has defenders also facing their own goal it’s doubly dangerous.

Couldn't be there last night, so settled for my local (Railway). What an absolute banging night of football and beers. Was rammed lady night.

I love this ****ing football club.

Little Keenan is fast becoming one of my all time favourites. What a little baller and a top lad. He ran it last night.

This is Southend united. We never do things in moderation.

Let's go and smash these vegan muppets and get to Wembley.

I was very critical of Hayes on here in the first half, but he really grew into the game and started to command his box a lot better. As shrimperjon has said, if you’re going to mention the first goal (which I maintain was a mistake from him) you have to mention the multiple other saves later on in the game and the multiple claims from crosses that took all the pressure off us late on.

FGR only have room for just over 5000 fans, I would think you will get around 10-15% of that capacity, it will depend on the layout of the stand and how they can arrange segregation. The area of Nailsworth it is situated in only has a population of 6K but no doubt locals from clubs nearby will add their support and swallow up the home areas very quickly.

What has helped us is that we now have a squad who although not world beaters are all at a similar level. This means that the sub coming on is as good as the player coming off. This doesn't weaken the team but fresh legs gives the continuity. To me this was the difference between the two teams. Not forgetting the 100 per cent commitment from the players and the fans of course.

Watched this earlier, apparently we have clout that Dale don't. Our club was as good as dead a year ago!

What a muppet this guy is, if I was a Rochdale fan listening to that I'd be pulling my hair out.

Also put some respect on us, we didn't win through 'clout' we won through sheer ****ing determination and never saying die.
I suspect that he doesn't know what clout means. Saying we have clout with the efl is downright daft. Transfer embargos , points deductions , million pound deposits , does not sound like a club with any clout with the League to me.

As for the depth and strength comments , whilst true for the 2nd half of the season , we haven't spent money , we have recruited wisely . But depth , they had a 19 goals this season striker on the bench , plus another two double figure strikers on the bench . Whilst they made several signings (albeit all free transfers) the have used the loan market frequently and with quite a bit of success.

McNulty feels he got the best out of his players , well Maher got more desire and grit out of his.

Yeah are FGR gonna segregate the away stand to get another 200 fans in. They've just changed their website so you can only buy home tickets if you are already registered with them. That wasn't like that first thing by all accounts.

I hope the club give a priority to those who had a ticket for last night.

I dont think you can do that especially when even more went to Gateshead shortly before for example and smaller numbers of fans doing the likes of all the horribly long away games throughout the season even in midweek. Will rightly go to season ticket holders first.

Are they really going to carve up the away stand? ****ers if they do!

I wouldn't put it past them, but after going there in March, that open terrace seems hard to segregate?

Unless there is an entrance near the home end, possibly.

I think they gave us around 1,000 for the league game, we took around 440 - 450 I believe.

We could easily fill that terrace next week.

The journey is around 3 1/2 to 4 hours, with the only predictable bottleneck the A40 through Oxford on the ringroad.

I can see them limiting the numbers to cut down our backing. They will obviously ban the drum.

So sing up and lets hope we play in the lucky red strip again.

It is winnable!

Season ticket holders who went last night should have a window imo.
the logistics of that would be challenging at best for the club especially considering you have the testimonial tonight and only a few days before the next game. logically the idea is fair however its not practical

It's literally all on their system everyone who bought a ticket who had a season card provided their number when buying a ticket. It's not all kept on an excel file now. I don't think think it would be hard at all

Fantastic comeback ! Tremendous effort from every single one of them !
It does have to be said, apart from Rodney, the Dale aren’t very good.
Shocking though that we still start with our best 3 attackers on the bench—Kendall may not have been fit enough to start (?),but the other 2 were kept out till the usual. hour mark and we were 3-1 down.

I pity the fool that cannot appreciate the skill of Rodney’s turn and touch for their goal.
We were simply awesome. They had 3 possibly 4 chances. Anyway I’ve just watched the highlights and Diversity on the big tele. No superlatives adequately describe what we saw.
What I would like to say is well done everyone. Not forgetting Stefano Russo, what we called the trainer in the old days but apparently is a Lead Sports Scientist. Well he does a superb job. We must be the fittest team in the league
