I think this just goes to show how meaningless a statistic assists really are. Up there with Expected Goals.
Yes, I’ve been saying for several years that it’s probably the worst ‘official’ stat introduced. I think ANG was awarded an assist for Nathan Ferguson’s thunderbolt at FGR a few seasons back, and likewise Blair Sturrock for a two-yard pass to Bilel Mohsni before his wonder strike at home to Northampton.

It might work for sports in America but not football.

On the eve of such a huge game, the feeling I've currently got is so weird but also so wonderful. I've not felt it as a Southend fan for so long. I'm absolutely buzzing but nervous in equal measure. Those are contrasting feelings in football that are only felt when something super positive could potentially happen. How long has it been since we can say we've felt that way?!!!

It's honestly unbelievable to try and fathom the feelings that were felt over a year ago before attending matches. That gut-wrenching feeling of dread, not knowing if the game would even go ahead as our water may be cut off or that we couldn't turn the lights on, or worst still, the club had died! We were living on life support, minute to minute and any comprehension of positive energy was totally unthinkable. It was the darkest black hole that any fan could endure.

Yet, I sit here giddily typing away with true excitement running through my veins and it makes me realise how grateful and happy I am that tomorrow is even possible. Let's enjoy the occasion and bask in the knowledge that our incredible club is back. Enjoy fellow shrimpers. Utb!

Great post!

Let’s get out there today and make the 9k+ crowd proud.

Because Ebbsfleet were total rubbish so this is a much more demanding challenge and a different approach is needed.
Because Bonne is quite obviously a much better attacker than Hopper.
I didn't say I agreed with the statement, I just wondered whether he would. As for Bonne and Hopper, they are different attackers rather than one better than the other.

Seeing the crowds in last 4 home games (plus today game), it’s show the potential of this club, image if we are in Barnet/York position, we will easily get 9k every game, with some sell out in home end.

But we can easily sell out some games in League 2, if we win our last 5 games.

We are yet to win more that 2 in a row this season, to win 5 in a row would be a miracle , Lets just go for 3 in a row to begin with , if we can accomplish that, Then start again from scratch and hope for another 3 in a row .

Exactly, when only one person can get the assist. Our 2nd at FGR for example, it was KAF that one the ball back, and then Husin played the defence splitting pass to Kendall, who did a 5 yard cross for Gus to score.

KAF and Husin did far more for that goal than Kendall, yet it will be Kendall that will get the assist.

Thing with the playoffs is that the draw is removed from the equation- which makes it a little more likely
