Echo News 'It's like Christmas' - Shrimpers make full-time move to £1million training venue

I do feel a new name for the training ground should be mooted. Fossetts will always for me remind me of the days of Ron and his long proposed much changed stadium.

I get that Fossetts Way is the name of the road and a past nod to a farm, but Boots and Laces wasn't called the Eastern Training Ground.

I'd much rather it was named something like "Shrimpers Park" / "Robert Jack Fields" or "Trigg Training Complex"

Anything that moves away from Fossetts which will always remind me of Ron. And as grateful as I am to COSU I don't think it should be named after them.

Master the art of 3 passes before hoofing it long.
  7. The Dougie Freedman Fancy Footwork Zone
    Stepovers encouraged, success optional.

Getting it sponsored would be a financial gain , so may be a generic name (Sutton Park ?) would work better with a sponsors name .

How about:

Shrimpers Performance Centre
Shrimpers Elite Training Complex
Shrimpers Basecamp
Shrimpers Forge
The Shrimpers Dock (seeing as we are by the sea)

We can't underestimate the magnitude of this. Players having to go to Boots and Laces with how dilapidated it was and serving as a constant reminder of Ron's era, must have been subconsciously hard for all concerned. This new facility epitomises a new direction and a new begining. Potential targets can now be shown this, which will serve as a genuine indication that the club is on the up, rather than showing them Boots and Laces and depicting a club that is crumbling before their very eyes. Players and staff will want to come to us now.

COSU, take a huge bow and I'm sure the best is yet to come, but just be mindful everyone. They have invested heavily and still are, on many things behind the scenes. Please do not expect a flurry of top class players on big money. They are spending their money wisely and for the greater good, please appreciate and accept that. Utb!
I agreed!!

sell the name to a sponsor for decent money, one million per year, otherwise name it after a founder off Southend United
