I'm in total agreement with you and if the season isn't successful, so be it for a greater future. However, we do have the nucleus of a good side. We don't need many additions and it's not beyond hope to get those additions after the takeover has happened. All is not lost even if it takes two more weeks. Plenty of good players around that will be waiting and weighing up their options anyway. I know it was for different reasons, but look how long it took us to sign Lopata last season. The better players will wait and see what's available and what best suits them.
 
Such is the nature of the national league I don't think next season would be a write off under any circumstance of a new owner. Even if they took time to seal it I.E Late June/July. We have no transfer window so could still recruit well into the season and if we have financial muscle which I suspect we will, we could easily poach players from this league and below. All it takes is a good run and you can get into the play off's. As we've seen in the past two seasons, you haven't got to be a good side to be in the top 7, Bromley, BH'wood etc.
 
I really don't understand the narrative of "I'd write off this season"

We missed the playoffs by 2 points, despite not being able to sign a player for 90% of the season, players going unpaid etc, we done ever so well in a tough, tough league.

We're Southend United, and we should be arrogant enough to look at the teams in this league this year and not fear anyone. (Assuming we keep management and Miley, Bridge, Kensdale)

Look how well we did last season under resourced. if take over takes place we will have the resources available to build through out the season. My understanding is that Hobson is leaving, Bridge likely to stay. Some of those we are losing like Murphy, Hyde no issue there. Would like to keep Steve as our number 1 or 2 but needs to keep fit of course. Justham looks a likely signing. But as a NL team we can build through the season and know that this summers targets are being spoken to daily etc

We still have:

Colin, plus another (maybe Arnold or Justham)

GUS/maybe JD/Kensdale/Lomas/maybe Ralph need new LB and CB

Bridge, Mooney, Cav, Husin, Taylor, Fonguck, Benton, Coker, Wood, Powell

Cardwell/maybe Wreh/ plus two new

Im sure ive missed the odd one or two, but with 4 or 5 new additions that squad looks more than capable. Im certainly not writing the season off
