Breaking News The Nov/Dec Embargo thread

When do you think the embargo will be cleared?

To recap and in simple terms.

Ron needs to agree a payment plan with HMRC for outstanding tax liabilities. We believe this to be in the region of £200k+. I'm not sure this is the only reason for an embargo, but let's not speculate and keep it factual.

The transfer embargo will remain in place until said payment plan is agreed by both parties. Nobody else can get this sorted but Ron.

Lots of miles have been covered, calls made, emails sent, games watched and a good number of decent targets have been identified. These targets were identified weeks ago and some even were ready to sign. Some have now gone elsewhere, as we could not complete, embarrassingly.

Direct your anger towards the person responsible (Clue it's not Kev, Stan, Tom) for another complete mess. Not towards lots of good people who have worked their nuts off trying to drag this club kicking and screaming into an era representative of a forward thinking and professional football club. Like us they love the club and are as ****ed off about this as we are. Unfortunately they are now experiencing what we have been subject to for years, first hand. These people are on our side. Remember that.

So we know now why Maher cant bring new players in.What we wont to know now what are the plans to lift the embargo so we can. This current group are useless and with the embargo in place we are stagnating. So a statement from the club would be nice,no flannel clean facts which supporters deserve.
Well the lasted a fair few months so if it's the same it might be lifted by April if we are lucky.

Is it a case of just a phone call?

Seriously what did you really expect Stan to deliver? Loads of people come into this club with good intentions but I always think “well yeah, that’s great but let’s wait and see how you find life working with Ron first”. I was pleased Stan came on board but I was never so blind to think he would be able deliver anything quickly. There’s no fairytale where SUFC are concerned. Ron’s money drying up does not mean the new people we have working at the club are not doing a good job.
Personally, no I did not expect those promises to materialise because they were so inflated and hyped up. When you have been a supporter as long as I have you know what is reality and what is pie in the sky. However, if you go back and look at the vast numbers of enthusiastic and credulous responses on the various threads at the time it is no wonder there is such a furious reaction now. Of course Martin takes the lion's share of the blame but if the other incumbents were naive enough to believe that anything had really changed or ever would under this person then they cannot avoid their responsibility as well.

Wrong time to buy or sell the club. Sorry to burst balloons. A purchaser would have to take over the running of the football club and it's restricted cashflow problems. They would have to accept moving to a new stadium as and when built. If Ron doesn't own the new stadium he may as well put up a three sided shed and walk away. If Ron is going to be the new clubs landlord then I dread to think about the rent level.

Nothing and nobody is going to stump up the kind of cash needed to take over the entire RH, FF, project. It is worth a fortune to Ron. A mega fortune.

No one would buy SUFC right now and Ron wouldn't sell, we have to live with that until the whole project is complete.

To be honest, if I won 100 million squid on the Euro Millions, I still wouldn't buy Southend.

No you don't "know" anything. You had an opinion. A pretty uninformed one, but an opinion nonetheless. But don't start claiming that you knew anything before this happened, because it's not true.

I have no idea why you and several others hold so much vitriol towards me but as someone who campaigns for mental health charities I find your use of insane extremely offensive.

So I'm asking politely for you to change your post.

Many thanks.

Stan Collymore.
Stan just let it go over your head, some on this site just want a scape goat, and most fans appreciate what you are trying to do, don’t give up because when have a dodgy chairman

Is this even a real account? I thought he wasn't coming back, @Cricko confirmed?

Anyone that swallowed all that PR guff would have to be exceptionally gullible and naive. Even if financial restraints did not exist it was never remotely likely that all those extravagant claims would translate into reality. Yes, we might have been able to sign a few players who might or might not have improved the squad but we shall never know. Seeing is believing and some of us have been down the road of empty promises too many times to fall for that now. The club's embargo statement is the usual mixture of half truths and spin, designed to obfuscate and pretend that all will be fine in the fullness of time.
