Game of Thrones S5 - Discussion Thread

Apparently next week is pretty epic as well.

However the Arya thread is truly boring. Who cares love. :zzzzz: Bring back The Hound.

They need an Arya training montage a la Rocky.

I might have to watch Borgen now!

I know people are forever saying "you *must* watch such and such" and there is only so much time in the day, but I really couldn't recommend Borgen highly enough.

For me, it's in my all time top five alongside the likes of The Wire, The Sopranos and FNL. You'll never believe that the intricacies of Danish politics can be so intriguing!

Yeah my parents have watched it and loved it. Will add it to the list.

Grantland link. All the Kingmaking seems a bit pointless now Armageddon is on the way.....

As always makes an interesting read.

He makes the point that the season hasnt been as good as it could have been, and most seem to say the same, and will we be able to go back to the plodding story lines after this episode.

The intriguing thing about it is last night was pretty much entirely fabricated for the TV show, much of what happened doesnt happen in the books, apart from Arya and Cersei parts, If they did stick to what happens there then the entire series would have been pretty flat throughout which was my biggest complaint about the last book, that George RR Martin didnt seem to progress the plot but to diverse into even more characters and plot lines and it started getting very rambling. (half of which hasnt even made it to TV)

So last night for me seemed to be the TV show grabbing the storyline by the scruff of the neck and dragging it to a place the books probably should be already and it makes me wonder now how much they are starting to dip into the next book. They are certainly starting to poke in front of the books and next season should be brand new to everyone.

Tonight's episode was again a slow build with a big last 15 minutes that reminded me of

  Spoiler:
Gladiator, Attack Of The Clones and Never Ending Story rolled into one

So is Brienne going to do something next week? She's been conspicuously absent. I'm guessing she's filming for Star Wars but since she's outside Winterfell (assuming Stannis does invade next episode) you'd think she'd make an appearance at some point.

One of the scenes tonight was extremely disturbing, difficult to watch.

Another awesome ending scene though.

Another scene of extreme cruelty against someone completely innocent. As you say, very difficult to watch and pretty disappointing that it's somehow important to the story.

The ending was great though, love Ser Friendzone's spear throw!

Bit of uproar I read from a review from book reader because it doesnt happen in the book. It may well happen in the new book but if it doesnt you have to question why they felt it necessary.

Indeed - Stannis has already Broken Bad, why do we need to see yet another horrendous scene of cruelty to an innocent teenage girl.
