I haven't seen the "seat on the board" that was the softener when they leant £60k to TefRon come to life yet. So maybe Ron should complete what was offered on than occassion before SUFC/RM/Tara ask the Trust to cough up again

The way the Trust statement is worded I am of the opinion the Trust do not really want to contribute. Using the point that they had recently parted with £12,000 makes me think they are a bit reluctant.

That's the way it reads to my suspicious mind.

I think you're right & considering most people don't trust Wrong Martin, it will hopefully get rejected.

The trust could give Wrong the choice, Physio equipment or a Scottish jolly?

Initial reaction was jog on, however i voted for it in the end because any little help to get out of this god forsaken league is worth it in my opinion. My only caveat was Ron wasn't left in charge of the money!!!

Also the blocked out posts for abuse a few pages back is like the #SuperInjuctions thread on Twitter!!! :winking:

Its funny how those that are not planing on going on the tour (if it happends) are voting no!

And those who are planing to go are voting yes!!

Funny world hay

There would be no point in the people going to vote against it.

I think a lot of people vote with good intentions --- either way.

Sorry I got it wrong earlier, Sturrock hasn't been in charge of a team that's been relegated but he has been removed due to teams being in the danger zone.

Paul Sturrock says:I have taken every side I have ever been manager of on a pre-season tour of some description as I believe it is a vital part of preparing for the season ahead.

How he can point to what he's done in the past as being of benefit beggars belief when you read this, so those of you who think it will help us get off to a flying start better think again.

"Sturrock was named as the successor to Gordon Strachan as manager of Southampton on 4 March 2004. On 23 August 2004 it was announced that Sturrock was leaving the club 'by mutual consent', after a disappointing run of form and rumours of player unrest and boardroom dissatisfaction with his management."

"A slow start to the 2006–07 season sparked rumours that Wednesday were about to sack Sturrock, but this speculation looked to be false when he agreed a new four-year contract on 14 September. But he was sacked on the evening of 19 October,[4] just five weeks and 3 games after agreeing this new deal. The new contract was agreed while the club were at the bottom of the League, while he was sacked when they were fourth from bottom."

"On 10 December 2009, Sturrock was removed as Plymouth Argyle manager and put into a business support role. This move was taken by chairman Sir Roy Gardner after nearly two seasons of poor results, although the club said it would not stand in the way if another club approached him.
On 22 April 2010 the Plymouth board confirmed that Paul Sturrock had left his role within the club to pursue other managerial opportunities"

I don't see how he can back up his reasoning for wanting to do this, he knows the financial situation, it's a damn cheek asking the trust to stump up for a worthless tour of his homeland.

Playing a number of matches at the same (somewhat unattractive) ground hardly fits my idea of a "tour" anyway.

Good point.

I'm all for team building / bonding but that can be done in many ways that doesn't include expensive accommodation and travelling fees.

I am at a loss to understand how our low life owner has the audacity to even consider letting this go ahead. If we cannot get the basics right like paying players wages how can he justify spending even £1 on this, regardless of whether or not the trust pay half where is the other half coming from ?

Sturrock will be busy enough trying to convince players to come to a club that doesn't pay it's employees without going on a jolly to Scotland.

this idea it's a jolly really is silly. Has anyone spent 10 days in Stirling in July. Hell on earth I would have thought. 2 of the teams, Raith Rovers and Dundee will give us a good work out. To me it seems £20,000 well spent. The issue of course is should the Trust pay 50%. The members will decide.
It'll be very interesting how the vote goes and whether it would be what the committee would have decided to do.

Would those voting no still be of the same opinion if the great messiah Tilly himself had been the one going to the Trust to help fund a pre season tour to the tune of 10k? Would they still vote no if Tilly had come out and said the same things PS has said as to the benefits to the team and the club of such a tour?

I suspect that if it had been Tilly or Brushy, or both of them, there wouldn't be any where near the amount of no votes as there is at present, and like others have said, it just seems to be another stick to beat the club, Paul Sturrock and RM with (but I agree, RM deserves it)

So we can safely say one committee member voted yes. :whistling:

I've voted against it, but I intend to go, if I can get the money together in time!

My biggest problem is that Mr Brady has asked the Trust to contribute £10K towards this trip, which will probably be beneficial PROVIDING WE HAVE NEARLY THE ENTIRE SQUAD IN PLACE This £10K is about a days interest for Mr Brady on his entire wealth! He is taking the pee even if it is a good idea!

I have to say that I feel the trust giving the members a chance to vote here has sparked good debate and has be appreciated from those who wanted more voting on key important issues.

Hats of to the trust on this one :)

What was the poll result then? The suspense is killing me.

The Club will only be happy when they have completely spent all of the Trust's "FANS" fund. Why they are being involved in this decision by the club to go on tour is beyond me...If the club or PS decide they want a tour fine no problem but if they cannot afford to fund it from within of from TB or RM's asset then it should not be the responsibility of the fans to pay for it.

There was a rumour going about that they could go to Spain for a costs covered trip backed by Insureandgo's parent company, how true that is I don't know but if that is/was an alternative it would be free and would make sense for a club that does not have a pot to **** in.
