I'm not one to dwell on what is past, I don't need to look at the swindon ratings thread to know we were poor. So the question is, what do we do about it to get our promotion campaign back on track at Plymouth on Saturday?

I suppose the biggest question marks are over the defence. For me if Phillips is fit he has to start, as for who partners him...Barker is woefully out of form, so a more reliable partner may help Baldwin, but at the same time an out of form Barker may be preferable to Baldwin who has not played regular football for months.

Me I'd go bold...

..................Morris
Clohessey Phillips* Mohsni Gilbert
......Hall Timlin Kalala Martin
..........Sampson Dicko

*Barker if Phillips unfit. maybe.

Good point to raise about our defence.

The main problem with this team is we cannot defend. We have kept one clean sheet in the league since October (Port Vale at home) - how many sides get promoted doing that? Not many I'd guess.

This is the key area to sort out. If we can return to regular clean sheets like in the winning run, we will go up.

That's thing isn't it, we were so solid at one point, there's not been huge changes in personel so what's gone wrong?

Hopefully Phillips will be fit for this one.
Morris

Clohessy Phillips Mohsni Prosser

Hall Grant Timlin Martin

Sampson Dickinson

Not going to happen but a man can hope.

Well we wont be playing Swindon so Id play:

.................Morris
Clohessey Phillips/Baldwin Barker Gilbert
......Hall Timlin Kalala Martin
..........Sampson Dickinson

If Mohsni plays it should be upfront in place of Dickinson but Id keep him as a sub for now.

Sorry to say it but Morris may be a good shot stopper, but a commander of his area he aint! Panic transmits to the others. Barker for whatever reason is playing well below his best. Luggy doesn't seem to have faith in Mohsni now for a start at the back. And then there's Gilbert.

i'd love to see this,

Morris
Clohessy, Phillips, Barker, Prosser
Hall Kalala Timlin Martin
Mohsni Sampson

This side show passion, something we lacked last night

easy, I'd drop Morris and Gilbert.

Mohsni
Clohessy, Phillips, Baldwin, Barker
Hall, Grant, Timlin, Martin
Dickinson, Sampson

This side will show passion, with Mohsni going nuts with frustration and taking on half their team from own goal line fifa 12 style

We really do have problems. Letting Daniels go back was a huge mistake and if Morris has another game like last night on Saturday then I sincerely hope we look to bring in someone on loan once the loan window re-opens. Barker has been shocking lately and Gilbert....well I don't rate Prosser but that was a horrific display from him last night.

My back 5 would for Saturday would be (assuming Phillips is hopefully fit):

Morris
Clohessy/Phillips/Mohsni/Prosser

But of course he won't drop Barker cos he's the skipper. He, Gilbert and Morris all need to up their game dramatically if selected. And Baldwin needs reserve action for a few weeks til he gets up to speed - that display wasn't anywhere near what is required.

I don't see the harm of leaving Baldwin in. The only replacements are Prosser, who truth be told probably needs games himself as has hardly played and Mohsni, who lets face it is much better up the other end of the pitch at this moment in time as no one knows what he'll do next. unlike the hoff ball tactic which is easily read and dealt with by opposition defences.

Gutted I can't get to Plymouth because I think the team will be fired up after the "telling off" they will have received from Messers Sturrock and Coughlan.

Swindon is the past lets concentrate on the next game just like the team should be doing!!

Why not go back to 4-3-3?

Morris
Clohessy Phillips Baldwin Barker
Kalala
Grant Timlin
Mohsni Hall
Dickinson

Barker's pace at left back could be a problem, though if we don't try it we'll never know!

Please god no, 442.
We have two wingers now lets use them.

Anything else lacks width and encourages even more hoof than now.

Agreed. And 4-3-3 also poses a problem with regards to Martin and Benyon who will either be playing out of position or not at all!

I suppose it all comes back to the old debate of getting results or playing pretty football.

Martin and Benyon weren't here when we shot to the top of the league during the first half the season. That's not to say they're not got players as I feel they will both go on and play well during the run-in. I just think maybe we need to go back to a formation which got us in this position in the first place.
