The Business
For me nothing can touch the Ben Abbey day. Went into the game feeling fairly sure we wouldnt get anything and Abbey ripped them apart. It marginally beats the Neil Campbell one good game of his life when Ars Luner and Lee Hodges ran them ragged.

Anyone else got a fav?

This could do with a poll ... i'd vote EACH AND EVERY TIME !!!

We haaaaaaate Orrrrrrient
We haaaaaaate Orrrrrrient

Mentions for a 1-0 Ansah victory at Birdbrain Road in April 1991 on our way to the second successive promotion .. crowd 6300 including 3500 Shrimpers .. marvellous

Also for Barneys hattrick in the 3-0 at RH 2009

Definitely Barney's hatrick 4.9.09 - great Friday night at the Hall.

The penalty that he had to retake ......

I think of the 3-0 home wins, the one after the Barney one was my favourite. Freedman & Barnard ripped them to shreds that night.

Can remember which year but im sure we beat orient 3-0 or 3-1 at there place when we had standing at the front and sitting at the back .

Got there about 2.30 and was told that the away end was sold out . Cue pushing and shoving by the hundreds of blues still outside .

In the end orient moved there own fans to accomodate ours. Im sure neil campbell scored twice infront of 2500+ southend fans.

Great first trip

I would vote for the ben abbey day too. It was bloody cold, and I was in the home end-made the victory sweeter.

Alan Littles first game, and the first in a number of years the SadOs made it not all ticket for the Essex masses, the 3000 away following made front page headlines in The Echo on the Monday

Agreed, probably my favourite too. Great night.

Yes he did, the only game that Neil Campbell ever looked good.

All about Ben Abbey Day. Even Leon Johnson looked like a world beater that afternoon.

Got to be Ben Abbey day for me as it was my first Southend away game. Travelling up on the tube as a 14 year old with my mate and thinking what a ****hole Leytonstone was. We got the win and had been giving Scott Houghton stick all game. He got substituted to massive cheers from the away end and he ran over to us and took his shirt off to a chorus of "You Fat *******". Then seeing some drunk Southend fans on the tube dancing to a ringtone on a Nokia 3210. Fast forward a few years and its probably me and my friends doing stupid stuff like that albeit with slightly more advanced phones!

About 7 or 8 years ago when Mark Salter got the only goal of the game. Only because I was able to smuggle in a giant bag of chips and 2 cans of Pepsi into the ground. I barely had room for my after-dinner Twix. Great days.
