Your best album?

My three albums that I have fallen in love with over time are

* Common - Be
* Roni Size - New forms
* Armand Van Helden - A Mix Odesey

Common I think it a really good album about morals and how to push on in life, Roni Size New Forms got me though the most boring week of my life when I went to India with work and Armand Van Heldens a mix odesey gives me inspiartion to go out looking for loose women every weekend.

more good choices IMO, new forms is probably the best d'n'b album ever and be is probably the best 'non-gangsta' rap album ever

The Calling - Camino Palmero -> Contains possibly my favourite song EVER - Wherever you will go. Plus the guys voice is amazing

Oasis - (Whats the story) morning glory? -> really doesnt need an explanation does it?!

Eagle Eye Cherry - Desireless -> A true musician with a superb voice. Really good chill out album

I think I've got it narrowed down to these because of the memories they haul up of a more simpler time. Plus these are three that I can go back and listen to time and again. In no particular order:
Clutching At Straws - Marillion
A Trick Of The Tail - Genesis
Seven And The Ragged Tiger - Duran Duran

*shuts eyes and prepares for barracking*

Top man,

New Forms is a must for anyone who likes that Genre. His second album was also fantastic and he is still in my mind the leader when it comes to innovative D&B.

DtS

Blue Mitchell - Graffiti Blues
Pharcyde - Bizarre Ride II the Pharcyde
Ian Dury and the Blockheads - Straight From The Desk-Live At Ilford Odeon 1978

Got to say, there are some brillant albums listed, Urban hymns, the clash, The jam, genesis, paul weller my type of stuff (middle of the roadish) also anything by Level 42 espcially there first album!

If you liked BE, Go and buy Talib Kweli - The Beautiful Struggle... Some choice songs on there that are particularly great.

The Killers - Hot Fuss

It changes all the time, depending where I am in my life and even what mood I'm in on a particular day.

However I would nominate the following records which shaped why I love music and made me so passionate about it...

Revolver- The Beatles

The Beatles in general are my earliest musical memory, a love of them was passed down by my dad at a ridiculously early age. This album in particular just sticks in my mind, initially because I was fascinated by the cover art (all the Fab Four in the hair) and over time because of the timeless nature of great pop songs. It hasn't dated at all. If you had wiped the songs from your memory and then was told it had been released this week you wouldn't doubt it.

Absolutely - Madness

The first band I loved which hadn't been introduced to me by my Dad. I was bought this as a present when still in primary school. It kicked off with Baggy Trousers and followed with Embarrasement - enough said surely? My schoolbooks were covered in crude drawings of the Madness 'M' logo as a result!

The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses

Just soundtracked my life at the age of 15/16 and has lived with me ever since. Just the other day I listened to it for the first time in a while and it brought back so many memories that I was almost brought to tears, previously 'I am the ressurection' was played at a wedding I was at and it made me dance like a madman. The most personal record to me because it was came out when I was going from childhood to adulthood and it soundtracked that time.

For me it would have to be:-

77 Talking Heads
More Songs About Buildings and Food Talking Heads
Fear of Music Talking Heads
Remain In Light Talking Heads
The Name of this Band is Talking Heads
Speaking in Tongues Talking Heads
Stop Making Sense Talking Heads
Little Creatures Talking Heads
True Stories Talking Heads

Does anyone spot a pattern here? ;)

And before anyone points out I have missed Naked, I haven't. I just didn't like it!

1. Mylo - Destroy Rock and Roll
2. Leftfield - Leftism
3. Carter USM - 1992

Honourable mentions:

Renaissance - Sasha and Jon Digweed
Oasis - What's The Story the Morning Glory
Rage against the Machine - Rage against the Machine
Happy Mondays - Pills Thrills n' Bellyaches
The Verve - Urban Hymns
Hotel Costes - 1-9 (take your pick)
Pink Floyd - The Wall
The Doors - Strange Days
