I know three having met the latest in the shop yesterday but would welcome a possible gathering as my hardcore of 6 dwindled down to me (deaths, moving away, loss of interest) and after a 5 year exile until last season am in the process of getting to know people.

But are you all scary or easy to approach and how do we go about it?? Im quite a shy person you see ...

Here's a picture to help recognise 'the clique'

Kevs just out of shot playing on the fruit machine and ORMs at home in his armchair.

But otherwise the whole gangs there!

This is the true spirit of SZ, it brought together a lot of fans, who had not met before but shared our passion for all things Shrimpers.

I, myself found I was going to matches just to watch the match with my Dad (who is now 70 and does not tend to goto any evening or away games.) So it was great to meet up with others and this then allowed us to forge friendships or just acquaintances that have enriched my supporting life and made going to away matches and Cardiff Cup games more enjoyable then being with just my old man.

although you need to steer clear of Harry Barris or you will never escape his grip.

The spirit of the SZ community should really be dragged back into the fore. Whilst the forum has become a valuable source of information, it is of my personal opinion that it was "far more fun" when the likes of Hound, Hooly, Reverend Bob (RIP), McNasty, Ninja, Badger, Smudger, Axeman, TerryintheWest, Bucks Blue, Shagster69 (and all the others to whom I apologise sincerely for not listing) were posting regularly.

I'm sorry if that sounds a little clique - it's not supposed to - but we didn't know each other before and met through ShrimperZone (and Shrimpers.net beforehand) and became (I hope) firm friends.

Those days, it appears, have gone. Let's hope it's only temporary. Please ........

Sorry to keep going on about my 5 year exile but I used to speak to a Barry who went in the West and never missed a match and seemed to drink alot. Is that the Barry Harris you go on about?

I will make an effort to meet some of you in the season ahead. Met two SZ chiefs in the build up to Cardiff Play-Off and very decent chaps, Terry n The West and Mr. Berry.

Sorry to those of you who are finding this too much of a 'love -in'.

I wouldn't exactly say that Terry and Chris were "SZ chiefs". In fact they have nothing to do with the site apart from posting occasionally on the forum. However they are both hard-working cogs in the Shrimpers Trust committee.

The "SZ chiefs" since late summer 2004 are Napster and Leeboy, with Bob Cratchitt providing the thankless task of updating the site ...

Sounds very much like him ... as my bank balance and liver with vouch whenever he comes over to visit!

Ah! But was he about about at the inception of the SZ community in 2002?!

tounge.gif

Seriously though, I'm starting to see why some of the original people are turning their backs on this forum. I think they once dared to have some fun! At least they didn't get a page-long reply from Officer Barnabas of the PC Police ...

Of those you mention, the majority still post, but as you know, circumstances change! For those who have left, many more have joined.

In any case, take those rose-tinted glasses off they don't suit!!

Dont worry he missed out me as well

I moved to Shrimperzone as soon as it was available after tiring of every thread on Shrimpers.net getting hijacked by cyber-warriors who thought they were some would be hoolie. I remember checking the site everyday to see if it had come alive, whilst it was being developed. I am sure Mike can be forgiven as he did put a disclaimer about missing anyone else so nothing personal - i hope

Also he forgot to mention dear FM13 who was the site's then whipping boy.

Bring back Super Kev. Oh god, the "clique" police will be out in force soon. This is what success brings though (website wise and football wise) ...
