You have got to be kidding!

I cannot believe that topic was locked? Is it because the Mods/Owners do not like the fact that they have been questioned or is it they they know they have acted wrongly and don't want anyone to discuss it!!

or was it more to do with it going way off topic? Oh yeah, it was

To be fair, I think they were just trying to keep the topic in the nature it was intended, rather than have it turn into another debate.

However, if it were to be debated here, I doubt it would get locked.

I think Leeboy's right the debate has run it's course. Let's just try to be polite to one another. I'm sure we've all talked b******s at one time or another on this board.

Having posted on the rivals boards, i have to say that this membership is vastly superior. We are not infested with half witted posters who cannot communicate without recourse to invective or in text speak or are not long lost relatives of Vicky Pollard.

It is daft to think that we will all agree with each others opinions at all times and it is good to indulge in largely friendly banter. Like any "community" there are bound to be differences of opinion and folk that hold completely diametric views to each other.

In the main we are all bound together by the fact that we all i think without exception want our club to progress.

So keep the lively debates going.

& the treatment af all members equal!!
It could just be, that in the words of George Orwell "some are more equal than others."

I have been visiting this site for the last 3 years and in that time i've read a lot of accurate , interesting posts, some very funny posts, some very serious posts and also a lot of dribble, i've also witnessed a lot of people being singled out and ridiculed, for no reason than just purely not agreeing with some.

At the end of the day i find it amazing how some people constantly get wound up and bite at some of the things said on here, think about it , this is a website for christ's sake , if someone didn't agree with my thoughts, then what are my options.....
either take it as a pinch of salt and just carry on my life as normal

or

get wound up and take offence to everthing that is said and get into a slagging fight and threaten people that could be no older than a kid.

So what if wiggy doesn't have the same opions as you ( i tend to agree with most of his/her posts) ,so what if someone's grammer isn't the best, not all of us are blessed with a well educated upbringing , but we have one thing in common and that is that we support SUFC so its simple, just read the posts and if you don't like it then don't get involved , which is what i tend to do 99% of the time.

Take this site for what it is, a place to come and chat about Southend, not to come and have a row. As for all the 'clique 'nonsense.
In all respect , i couldn't care less if i don't know any of you lot and don't socialise in your circles, i go to watch the Blues with my own pals and nothing is gonna change that.

Enough of the ranting , lets just look forward to an eventful season ahead.

Also Mike, my comment was not to do with common sense but to do with the fact Moderators need to be seen to be consistent and as such communication between Moderators is imperative when such action is deemed necessary. After all verbal warning about behaviour PM from a Mod could have resolved this issue.

Locking threads can be done quickly to ensure threads stay to the nature of the forum. However bans and yellow cards should be communicated to all Mods so we all know what is occurring and have a general consenus, it might seem like typical bureaucratic bull$%&* to you but by doing so can allow heat of the moment feelings to die down and reasoned view be made.

I did this when contemplating temporarily banning CS J to ensure I had the backing of the hierarchy, and then let the public decide his fate, this seems to have had the desired effect as his posts are less vitriol.

I do not take credit for it as it is CS J himself that has turned it around.

As a relative newcomer can I ask what is the salary for being a mod? If the guys do this out of the goodness of their heart then leave them alone. Bit like running the line on a Sunday morning for free. The site varies in standard, some posters are irritating, it can seem cliquey, timewasting jokes like '' Brush leaves!, Greenacre signs '' followed by daft picture is the worst as someone who checks the site whilst at work. Shame there is not a joke section.
