This is a good thread Smiffy, but i think if we did pick up £2m for Fred then there is no way we will spend the same on new players, i think we may spend half, with the rest going towards signing-on fees and wages, plus a little tucked away for a rainy day / debt management

Not neccessarily anybody. Tilly has said he wants a bigger squad and there is not pressure to sell. It looks as though Paynter will be on his way so that allows for another striker to come in, remembering that we have already let James Lawson go. We need two new centre backs or defenders with the capabilities to play centrew back after the departures of sodje and prior. There is a distinct lack of cover in the midfiled at the moment and another couple of players capable of those roles would be handy. As i said earlier, i'd only want 4 or 5.

I agree BLUEBLOOD. I can't see us spending near a million of it to be honest. Quite rightly so in my opinion, I see Ron giving tilly half of it for everything, new players, wages etc. whilst still giving him his original transfer budget and keep the other half in a high interest account somewhere taking it out when it is needed to pay for new stadiums, keep us afloat if it ever looks like we may go under again etc.

This board is crazy sometimes!!

We wouldnt get near most of them. The most realistic are probably Granville on a Free, Parlour on a Free (but would want big wages) and the only other would be Holmes.

No way would we splash out cash like that. Swansea made it clear when we were in the CCC that Robinson was going no where and IIRC he ended up signing a new deal - £300,000? More like £750,000 at least...

And staying with Plymouth, is Rory Fallon still there? A player that has always impressed me when I've seen him play. Caused us havoc when we played the Swans at the Liberty Stadium last. - 200k

Well said, some people live in dreamland i reckon. I've said before we will not spend much more than £150k on any one player, let alone half of any fee we get for fred.

On the list someone like Holt will only go to CCC and then for at least 500k, Roy O'Donovan is being watched by a whole host of clubs and the rumoured fee is now £750k minimum. Robinson will not move sideways.
