yes yes YES! Tilly calls for Heroes!

Tilly wants heroes.

He needs to show a bit of passion. I don't mean going mental like Warnock or Fry, but what about unfolding those arms and making himself heard. If the players saw the manager was up for it then they might be.

Without wanting to play devil's advocate, nobody complained about Tilson's laid-back style when we avoided relegation to the Conference and then won consecutive promotions.

The likes of Steve Wignall, Rob Newman and Alvin Martin were all quite animated characters, whether on the sidelines, in the dressing room or in front of the press but that never transferred to their respective players on the pitch.

For all that Martin Allen has been lauded on here recently, he's not achieved anything as a manager yet. And what about England? Steve McLaren is far more animated than Sven ever was and yet we looked a far better organised team under the "dull, passionless" Swede. And that Arsene Wenger chap hasn't done badly for a manager that sits with his arms folded for 90 minutes...

I'm not saying that Tilson couldn't do more but I think it's clutching at straws to suggest that a change in his style of management would be the key to solving our current woes.

Except for when he walked across and shook Pardew warmly by the Throat...

:minger:

:hilarious:
Steve saves his bust-ups for the opposition manager also, not to mention steaming verbally into refs.Besides,Brushy does the shouting and passing on of instructions, like when Fred got a rocketing for not working hard enough against Leeds. But nobody spots that right?I see a lot that goes on with the managers from my seat in the East.

Also this isn't under-12's football at the local park where yelling at the kids will make them run faster so the same principle won't neccesarily work at the professional level.

There are a lot of managers who do scream and shout, however that is because it is in their personality and it is more their own way to cope during a high tempo game than for the players benefits.

Just think about it, in a sell out stadium with the noise of the crowd, do you really think players can hear what the manager is shouting?

As the previous thread said many successful managers (including our own)don't scream and shout.

If Tilly jumped up and down like a lunatic for 90 mins I really don't think the results would change (only change the viewpoint of some fans).

All this 'should he shout or not' stuff is a tad irrelevent really. As long as the team perform, I for one, dont care a fig if the manager goes for a siesta at 3 or acts like taz.
