The club's Facebook page posted a question the other day asking what would fans prefer: to play in the JPT final, to play Chelsea or to win promotion to League One. It seemed quite obvious to me, surely you'd rather win promotion than just PLAYING in those matches. If they'd said winning it would've been trickier. Anyway, it made me think about whether I'd rather win the JPT or beat Chelsea, ignoring the league. I think I'd rather win the JPT as it would be our first ever national domestic trophy whereas we've already had one great giant-killing in our history, and we played Chelsea not that long ago. It would also be our first trip to the new Wembley. Which one would be more financially rewarding? Obviously this is purely hypothetical - I don't want to tempt fate.

I'd go with winning the JPT. With, obviously, more fans being able to go to Wembley and winning there will be a memorable occasion. Beating Chelsea would be great, but I doubt I will be able to attend.

Very close though!

Has to be the JPT at Wembley every time.Just playing there would be good enough.Frankly,I don't think we'll beat Brentford anyway.

Why not?

Were still a bit better away from home, we were the better team at home against a full strength Brentford, Britt may well be back, we will have a decent following there & if there's one thing about this squad this season, they never give up.

Be optimistic, Brentford are a decent side but there beatable..:winking:

Anyway let's get past them before we decide what we'd prefer.

I'd guess beating Chelsea would get us more money, especially if we got a good tie in the 5th round, in which case wed probably be on TV, I'm not even sure if the JPT even gives out prize money.

Its a fair opinion Barnablue has which i share. On paper they are a better team and should win the game. Our v good away record doesnt compare to their home record (8 wins, only 1 defeat).

I think we will lose but it will make me even more delighted if we did manage to beat them than if i really believe we are going to beat them.

You never know though....thats why football is so exciting.

JPT final every time. To win silverware at Wembley would be phenomenal.

This every time!!

it's all about the money.

Carlisle claimed they got over £500k for getting to the final in 2010, which is possibly about the same we will get for beating Chelsea.

If this question was beating Chelsea AND getting another big tie in the 5th round, then that would make it very close, but the prospect of winning a trophy at Wembley is magical.

beating chelsea is close but the chance to win a trophy at wembley players and fans dream of this. magic moment. great to be a southend fan good times ahead.

Gotta be the JPT, yes we will get more coverage beating Chelsea, but we will then probably get a crap draw in the 5th round and lose.

Winning the JPT will go down in the history books, and be a trophy for the club.

Having seen the 2-2 home draw, I wouldn't agree that we were the better team, although we certainly had the chances to win it in the second half.We didn't take our chances in the home cup tie to Scarborough either.

Brentford's home record is pretty impressive(I don't think they've lost at Griffin Park since August)and our own record there in recent years is poor.

I hope Britt is back next week and fully agree with your last comment.

Disregard all of the above.I'll be over the moon if we win.:loyalsupporter:
