Question Would you play for Col Ewe?

Depends on the alternatives and the deal the scummers were offering. In principle wouldn't rule it out

Hmmm

37 hour week staring at a screen for the majority of it for average uk salary vs a bit of training / gym work and kicking a ball around for 90 minutes every week and getting paid for it.

I'd bite your arm off for that kind of life, regardless of who the employer was.

I would but that is because I've never been a great footballer, as much as I love to play, so I would be bringing them down from the inside!

If I was the top scorer in NLS and Col Ewes move for me, I would go.

Then be their best player for next two seasons and then do a Sol Campbell and join Southend Utd!

Denis Law was the king of Old Trafford but it didn't stop him joining Man City and scoring the goal that got Man United relegated.

@Ozzer

...PEDANT ALERT...PEDANT ALERT...PEDANT ALERT...

Not actually true...
  • Law's goal put City ahead 1–0 in the 81st minute.

  • Law didn't celebrate the goal, thinking it might have relegated United.

  • Other results that day meant United would have been relegated regardless.

If it was an option and I was a player or staff member, of course I would consider it as a career move.

Player wise, Pat Jennings, Steve Walford and Willie Young all player for Spurs before Arsenal.

George Graham managed both North London clubs.

Even one of the most iconic F A Cup winning managers, Bob Stokoe, who can forget that run to hug Jim Montgomery in '73, finished his career on the Newcastle Utd scouting staff.

A Col U scout was at one of our games once. He asked our coach for permission to talk to me about my son (the no 8). Said coach burst out laughing "Good luck mate, he's over there, but I must warn you he's a rabid Southend fan!". Apparently a period of hesitation followed, but he did eventually come over. I surprised myself at how politely I said thanks but no thanks, the no 8 fully understood.
