Worst defeat following SUFC

This does not mean I think we will lose Sunday, but what's the worst defeat as a Southend fan you have ever experienced ?
Mine has to be in 1987 away to Gillingham where we lost 8-1, to top it off i got spat on through the metal fence 😆 🤣
And the 1 was an own goal IIRC. I know I was there but have tried to expunge the memory.

I remember losing 4-0 at stoke... having gone into the match unbeaten that season ...1990 or 91?
Yep, that was our first defeat of the season having just been promoted from Div 4.and was on the Saturday before the 8-0 thumping at Palace. We had been top of the table and I thought then that our bubble had been burst.

We went up that season into Div 2 for the first time in our history.

8-0 away at Palace in the league cup. I think Ian Wright got a hatrick and I think Mark Bright got a couple too.

The 2nd leg we lost at 2-1 at roots hall.
That was my heaviest defeat as well. Believe both Wright and Bright got hattricks.

I'm sure it was just after I saw us lose 4-0 away to Stoke; so a good week that one.

Worse defeat though, and again early 90s was a battering away to Carlisle on a Tuesday night. Can't remember the score, but it's a long way to go to get a tonking!!

Went to a game years ago in the depths of winter wearing the wrong shoes. De feet were like blocks of ice.

Aylesbury away in the FA Cup, played after the team had been on a week's drinking binge (sorry, training camp) in Tenerife, with the PA announcer singing over the tannoy as we left 'Oh when the Ducks go steaming in'. It doesn't get much more dismal than that.

Heaviest defeat was 1-7 v Donny.

Worst away performance was a 5-0 v Oxford at the old Manor Ground when they still had the fences up and fans were trying to climb them to get at the players. I've never seen us so angry.
Yeah I agree with you that performance at Oxford in 96 was worse than the heavy defeats at Sunderland/Gillingham/Derby/Crystal Palace.
