World Aid

I would get strong diplomatic ties with other african nations also clamp down on bloody warlords running about causing trouble.

Sounds easy when you say like that doesn't it! The problem is unless there is something in it for the west most of the time governments aren't bothered, we intervened in Lybia because there is oil but we haven't in Syria.

Please explain why they cant achieve things for themselves???

Because they are years behind us socialy so it stands to reason we should let them naturaly develop!! dont get involved step back.

3 civil wars in around 10 years didn't help (worked with a Ugandan guy ), many simply couldnt work or help rebuild without outside assistance .

what ****es me off is all those tv adverts, you know they type. for only £5.00 a month you can keep a family of four fed for a month. Now is it me or are we paying too much for food in th UK?
Lol, puts me in mind of a joke which should probably go in another thread -
Some Africans earn as little as £1 a month.
Lazy *******s.

But when Russia and China are both saying stay away it makes it a little harder to get involved.

It's a bit hard for third world to naturally develop when most of their governments are corrupt and keep all the money for themselves. People are going on about Kony but Uganda's own army are suspected of murder and rape themselves.
Also bare in mind a lot of the time giving aid means we will be able to export goods to them easily, if we didn't export to anywhere the country would die in about a week since in England everyone wants Chinese made goods so English goods wouldn't get sold. Pressure from world organisations means we have to give world aid

Because in my view WE ARE SEPERATE! we as humans take equality too far

We are an island nation with our own traditions our own views our own language and our own traits. We should embrace it support it and treasure it.

I DO NOT CARE ABOUT POOR NATIONS - it does not interest me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I do care about my fellow countrymen on hard times.

UK FIRST

No we aren't, for starters we belong to a Commonwealth of Nations, which is a product of Empire. While that is a bit of a different topic, I feel that the British Empire overall was more a force for good than bad. A consequence when countries became independent citizens were offered the chance of a British Passport.

Additionally after WWII many people (The Empire Windrush generation) were encouraged to come to the UK to take up jobs that many of the population at the time thought were below them.

In between walking miles for clean water, avoiding malaria, local militia and wondering where you next meal might come from?

Good idea to move there and open a chippy then surely, don't forget to pack the mosquito nets

Make a fortune i reckon

India is indeed a tricky one. The variations of wealth in astounding. Even in Bombay you get people living in abject poverty living cheek by jowl with incredible wealth. Not only do they spend vast sums on defence (you could argue that the absolute shambles of partition in 1948 was a huge factor on their continual emnity with Pakistan), they also have a space programme with costs how many billions?

India still has an issue regarding "untouchables" and the caste system which could possibly give a glimmer of reason to why the poor stay incredibly poor and some (such as Bollywood actors) are regarded as gods.
there's also a tidy middle class there, one of my mates is opening a chain of retail stores for that reason, you get poverty everywhere - get over it

Bombay? Hasn't been called that since 1995. Get with the times.

It's all fairly simplistic though. If you want to do something to help people in third world nations, donate to or volunteer for a cause you feel is the worthiest or neediest. If you don't want to, then don't.

Though if you're in the latter group, it's probably advisable not to start a thread saying how much you don't care or want to do anything for them, especially if you have a point of view that's a cross between Alan Partridge and Karl Pilkington.

UK FIRST

We may be an island with our own language, traditions and traits but the UK long ago stopped being self sufficient in terms of food and resouces. We need the outside world to continue out reletively cushy life and for that privilege we have to pay to help others less fortunate than ourselves.

Charity begins at home. As a country we should be looking to put all of our money into digging ourselves out of this current hole before sending it overseas. Once we're back in the black we can start to look at aiding other countries.
